Subject: English and Form

I've been going on more crusades for the English language. I hate to annoy people, but English is being degraded fast enough without the internet.

Oh well. "Forget those good ol' days, that's not what they were."

Still, nothing has any form anymore. I've always loved the old Shaker philosophy that said that everything you do should be an act of worship for God. And still today their furniture is considered the to be of best quality anywhere. They'd do their best, because it was worship- they'd sand and paint even the backs of drawers, and took great care in whatever they did or made. We were created to worship Him- so why are we settling for less than our best? Why are we not even doing anything in that mindset?

I know, I know... 'Physician, heal thyself'.

We set up Christmas lights outside today. You guys should stop by and see it.

whats the point of creating creatures just so you can be praised? you make Him sound egotistical.
Don't get me wrong i love God as much as the next guy but i think God had more in mind for us when he created us then just to worship him.
the things you do don't always have to be for God it can be for yourself.

Well, yeah, I'm sorry. I should've said that He created us to have a relationship with Him- He really loves us, enough to die for us. But giving Him glory should be the major focus of our lives. I mean, hey, He's awesome, and He deserves every breath He's given us.

i see where your coming, from the sacrifice he made should not be forgotten. He deserves a lot of respect and praise but what about those who do not believe in a higher power?

You need to beleive in Jesus before you can do anything regarding worship, otherwise your sins seperate you from him. It's our job to spread the Word.

ya but some people would look at "spreading the word" as forcing our religion on them and then things just get worse from there

but also even if you don't believe in god (which to some could be a sin) god forgives all sins even the sins of those who might not believe

Just wondering, are you Unitarian?
I didn't mean cornering people at busstations and yelling at them about their future in Hell if they don't repent and believe :). You don't have to force people to listen. You can just bring it up in casual conversation. People don't mind talking about their beliefs.

I know it's a confusing subject, but Jesus didn't automatically save everyone when He died on the cross. He said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me," (John 14:6) and "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." (John 3:17,18).

i'm catholic and i find (for me) when i bring up religion with friends or family (except my mom) it ends up in an arguement most of the time. Most of my friends are athiest and don't like talking about religion

Yeah, I know what you mean, that's been happening to me lately. Remember, though, that Jesus never said, "go out and convert everyone". He said, "go out and tell about the good news." It doesn't matter if others don't except it, just that we say what God wants us to say. God will take care of their hearts, which is where any conversion will take place.

Peter wrote, "...in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." (1 Peter 3:16). So, our actions should speak as well as our words.
