| I'm not typing to whine in my journal. Wow, what a change huh? Anyway, I do want to complain. I was watching fox a few minutes ago and there was a guy on T.V. talking about how american kids are corrupt. I don't want to get off on a rant here, but who exactly controls what we see? Parents. Adults. Agents. Demons. Call em what you will. This loser is talking about how corrupted our generation is. No shit sherlock, glad to see your on top of it. Our generation was screwed from the get go. I used to be SOOO into music as a kid. I'm dead serious. When I was around 4, you could sing just about any song and I could tell you who wrote it and about the band. However, Micheal Jackson was an early model. Yes yes, I know he has some problems. However, until he had itching problems, I loved what he would do. Then he failed on me with his itching problems. That's when it all went down the tubes for me. Anyway, the point is my first role model failed me. We've all had that happen. THAT'S when you no longer give a damn what you do. On fox, the guy talked (On the commercial.) about how black (Not racial) rappers shape their hands like guns and have really hot chicks dancing along with the song. I DON'T find anything wrong with that because that's what some Hollywood bastard has brought me to believe that its fine. Besides, I don't care what he does. What am I gonna do, rob a bank with my fingers, but get caught cause I get distracted by some hot teller? Come on! Porn is the older generations fault by far. Playboys weren't enough for some people (They were for me) and some guy (I mean horney male) thought it would be funny to take Britany (I don't care if its spelled wrong) Spears head and put it on some big breasted sluts body. You know, the technology involved with creating false porn by moving faces involves so much technology, you might even think Bill Gates was the first to try this. Isn't he single? If he's not, he's very lonely. What I don't get is why nobody takes charge. Wait, now that I think about it, I do know why. The male gender doesn't give a rats furry ass, and the female gender is too busy doing their own thing. What do I mean? Come on, you haven't seen that one ad on T.V. about the new little baby girl is born, but throws off her pink hat? Then all the little female babies throw off their hats? Then the first baby raises her fist in the air. Oh, real rebels at hand folks. What about the one movie about mom's going on strike? Jesus Christ, get the dad involved if your such a whiner. I am not a sexist, but I get tired of seeing these T.V. ads. Sorry about getting way distracted there, but adults are the sole source of why the world is so f*cked up. Look at me, I swear just for the hell of it. Well, its also to add some comical effect... damnit. In short, if the older generation doesn't like what they started or did, well, too damn bad. You blew it for our generation. Manners have no meaning, T.V. shows are VERY screwed up, messed up music videos... I say its their fault. They started the goddamn trend, not us. We're just followers. We can't make our own decisions. We for some really dumb reason rely on them for our trends, and whats funny and etc. Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong. |

spud | 03-28-02 4:34pm hmmm. just because they're into porn, doesn't mean they are slutty. well, okay, maybe. but that is a generalization. anyway. i don't think that's right. i don't think that we're entirely messed up. i don't think that it was caused by the media. each generation has its ups and its downs. i just think that the ups and downs are becoming more extreme. go ahead, blame it on laziness, poor parenting, evil movies, videos, music, whatever. its not so much any one of those things, as it is a combination of factors. and it also has to do with evolution. society has to evolve. teenagers are just a cross section of the next inevitable phase. |

It's obvious the American Pie is marketed to teens that aren't old enough to watch the movie (rated R). But to compare them to tobacco companies was a little extreme. Is sex healthy for teenagers? Depends on who you ask. Forty years ago it was definitely judged not healthy. As a guy I don't care if there is sex on TV. I don't even mind watching two girls make out on TV. Did you ever notice that though, in the last two weeks I've seen 4 sets of lesbians kissing on TV, two on network television, but no gay guys. It is very obvious that things are being marketed to a male audience, or at least more liberal sexual points of view. One last thing, the teen pregnancy rate isn't any more than it was 40 years ago (you couldn't tell by our school) but it was kept secret more. Talk to someone in Schoen's psych class when we go back to school, or go to Mr. Schoen himself and see if you can get an article on Borderline personality disorders, it's interesting. |
