Molly,
Give him time. God will speak to you. Do not worry about when or where or how, God will speak and as long as your heart is open you will know who is speaking, and what he is saying. Sometimes God's word is audible, but sometimes God's voice can be heard through the silence. It's during the silence when you feel alone, or abandoned, that you have to muster the courage and faith to go on. Once you find the faith to do the things that you need to do, and you start to live your life in the way that pleases God even when he isn't looking, or speaking, that is when you know that you have achieved something. It's human nature to feel alone at times, even when your in a full room and God is right infornt of you, sometimes you need to have the courage to keep your eyes on the prize and the rest will fall into place. Trust me when I say that if you continue to follow god when you can't see him or hear him, that he will guide you even more so. It's like when a parent leaves town, how much more pleased is the parent when they get back and know that their child was loyal while they where not being watched. God loves you and you know it. You can feel it in your heart. If you can't find God anywhere else know that God is in your heart. "...God poured out his love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit whom he has given us. He is with you, and your heart will tell you what to do when nothing else does, for God is in the heart and has set forth an example for you to follow.
As for the world having you on your finger, know that you have all the power to have the world on yours if you have faith like a mustard seed you can do anything. Take step in faith towards God's open arms and he will not let you fall. The answers are there in time, do not fall idle though in the time it takes, keep you r eyes and heart open searching for those answers. Fruit will follow in the places and choices that God has so forth blessed. You are a good and faithful servant, do not be corrupted by the haste of the world, be blessed in the eternity of the lord, for all things come in time, who knows better for you than he who created you and will call you home when your life has finished. From every dimple and freckle, to every scratch and dent, God love you Molly.
