im confused about religion. what is it matter if you are catholic, buddhist, morman, muslim, jewish, wiccain, or anything else? no matter what their religion, everyone in the world just wants one thing: to be loved. everyone wants to be accepted, cherished, and noticed. what better way to get that than to look up to a higher being? i cant halp but wonder why everyone thinks that their religion is the best, though. they havent even explored other paths, other options beside the one that they have grown up in and has been forced down their throats. i dont want to raise my children like that. i dont want someone to have to wake up every day and think that they have no choice about whom they can pray to, if anyone at all. i just think that it's not right, having 1-year-old already a member of their cristian church. disturbing, actually. therefore, i have decided this: 1. i am not going to get comfermed. 2.i am not going to conform into the good little catholic girl who goes to church every sunday because her daddy dearest tells her to. 3.i dont know where i belong religion wise. 4. i will try to be open-minded about the religion my parents have tought me, but, wil still lok at other options. 5. i cant wait to go to cancun. |

Whatsleft | Religion, 04-05-04 3:23am I'm a Christian. I agree with you a lot. I think religion is a choice that each individual must make. We shouldn't be shoving anything down anyone's throats. But knowing God is so wonderful, why should I keep him to myself? I hate the word religion. True Christianity isn't about religion, it's about having a personal relationship with God. I don't believe in God because my parents do, I believe in him because he's proved himself to me. Everyone in the world wants purpose in their life, to know that there is something eternal and true that's worth living and dying for, that life isn't just meaningless. Life without God is meaningless. You can argue anything you like, but ultimately, if there is no God, then nothing we do here means anything. People also, as you said, want to know that someone thinks they are worth something. The God I know is the only one who valued me enough to die for me. I don't know any other gods who have done that. The reason that only one religion has to be right is because they all have differences that can't be reconciled. They are different gods. And the truth is truth no matter what you or I believe. It is independent of us. So if Ala is the real God, then he is whether I believe it or not. Likewise, if Jesus is God then he is whether everyone believes or no one. I think most people hate religion because they are proud and don't want to relinquish control of their lives to God, as if we have control of our lives anyway. But people don't understand that knowing him is awesome. There is so much peace and fulfillment. And you soon realize that the only reason he doesn't want us to do certain things is because he knows it will hurt us. He knows what will make us happy better than we do since he's the one who created us. He's always there when no one else is. The bad news is, God is perfectly holy and we're not. Because of this, there's nothing we can do to get into heaven or get close to him. But that's also the good news if you're someone like me who is always screwing up. Because of Jesus, God has offered us forgiveness and his perfect righteousness. We get in on his free gift of grace and not by what we do. It's sad that people think God is just this guy who's out to get you and keep you from having fun. He's not. I wouldn't say these things except he's been so real and awesome to me in times when I've really needed it. I hope that answers some of your questions. |
courtney115 | Re: Religion, 04-06-04 11:41am hhmm...i guess i have stumbled upon a born-again? whoops. no offence, but i dont think anyone can answer my questions right now...maybe a higher being if there is one, maybe not. but, i dont think that a human being, just like me, can answer these complex questions just because they have read the bible (im guessing?)

Whatsleft | Re: Re: Religion, 04-09-04 2:02pm Hey, you're totally right. No one but God himself can prove that he exists. I'm not God. Just trying to help. And if I ever wear a thong may I die slowly by having rusty wire woven through my body with a three foot needle. |
