For thee, my Lord, for thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand

Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee

And teeming with souls shall it ever be.

Right.

After they killed people?

Wow.

What's the Latinish mean? In Father's name and something spirit sanctified..

I do better with German translations.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Killing to prevent more killing will only produce an endless cycle of death.

Sometimes its necessary. God commanded the Isrealites to kill the pagan people who were inhabiting the Promised Land. I used to wonder about that but realizing that those people regularly sacrificed their own children to idols takes away some of my pity for them.

If the police weren't doing their jobs, then they had the responibility to kill the mafia people to protect the more innocent. In a democratic society where we can keep desturbed people out of normal social activities, the death penalty is unneccesary. Then again with the prisons the way they are here, it might be a better alternative.

Sorry. Can-o-worms.

Still, it's not good to say, 'this person deserves death, this person doesn't' because we're all guilty of being lawbreakers, no matter who we are or what we've done. It becomes a matter of numbers. 'will more people live if we take out this guy, will more people die if we leave him in'. You want the most live humans as possible so the most amount of people have a chance at finding salvation in Christ.

I know it's gruesome, Rachel, but sometimes it just has to happen if they will not change their ways.

It might be good to point out though that in the 1600s or so, a country that was run by a corrupt church was telling Christians to fight the Terks from the Ottoman Empire who were attacking the land. Some real Christians stepped in and argued that Christians shouldn't fight the Terks for safety for serveral reasons that were very good. Afeter all, Christians would go to heaven, and the heathen Terks shouldn't have their chances at finding Christ by the people who were charged to spread the gospel. Part of it's outlined here, it's a disterbing tale. Sattler

That's understandable. You might like that site I just posted, it's about pacifist Christianity.
