What a day. Most of the following thoughts are not in chronological order, and are not organized in any meaningful matter. Work was ok, nothing great, just another day. Picked up some alcohol for tonight and had lunch at the guy’s place. Left a little early. Arrived at the guys place but, ended up leaving right away to do a Taco Bell run. Service was slow, but my taco was good. Jeremy was too drunk to figure out how to order. I ended up telling James the order, as I had already went through the line, waited for, and received my food. I realized that Jeremy is very charming. While this sounds really dumb even to me, just think about it. He is a complete ass, yet many people (including myself) still like him. Like I was embarrassed how he hit on a girl in Taco Bell as she walked in with her boyfriend. Yet I still ignore it. I’m trying to think of any nice things he’s done or said to me. Amanda made the reference that she only hears my name in reference to wine night. That’s really depressing to me. Do people really only remember me when I’m obnoxiously drunk? Jeremy and Andy’s current Amanda argued about which Star Wars was the best for roughly ½ an hour (prior to my arrival). Jeremy seemed completely unaware that he played on Xbox all night and only occasionally joined in conversation. Andy had a little temper thing with the poker game. Then half the party left. When he came back out it was just me, him, James, and Jeremy sitting around talking. Very wide range of topics, Andy did very well in supporting his views and actually having thought the views out. Jeremy on the other hand frustrated me. Mostly because the biggest issue for me was Proposal 2/gay marriage. It had started out as just an informational talk, which with Jeremy thrown in became a political debate. He made many arguments that upset me, and here’s the few I remember. Gays should not have the same tax breaks as straight people, because I could marry my best friend just for benefits. Gays have the ability for both to work so they don’t need the breaks people with kids need. With straight people it is understood the wife will stay at home with the kids while the husband goes to work. Since that relationship isn’t there with gays, they don’t need the extra benefits. Until a way is found for gays, and others pretending to be, to not abuse the system the ability to marry should not exist. Gays need to propose the solution that is acceptable to mainstream America. I’m not going to go into great detail with that one… Later it morphed into DNA profiling, where he made this analogy to Andy: When your daughter is raped, do you want them to use DNA evidence. Andy got very mad at this point, with what I believe to be very good reason. Jeremy suggested that Andy will someday be in a relationship which has created a child. In this case, a daughter, who will be raped. Really not an appealing thing to think about. Not long after all of that, Andy got a scratch on the back (for which I received the first smile I’d seen in about an hour) and I left. On a side note I was almost t-boned by a cop. Dumb bitch tried to run a blind stop sign. Tomorrow is another day. Edit 2:33AM: Sorry if anyone’s feelings were hurt in the preceding, I just needed to write some thoughts down and need to think about them myself as well. |

Fanelia | 11-21-04 12:14pm For what it's worth, as a woman, I DO NOT intend on staying home to take care of the children while my husband works, and I don't know many women who would anymore. Therefore, I doubt Jeremy's argument would hold much merit in today's society. :-/ |
