my computer's motherboard died again today. it died at the end of april, and it took sony 3 weeks to repair it. right now i'm using the "family" computer in the basement (aka sue's space). and of course, sony only has a 1-year warranty on its products, and i bought the computer last august. i'm sure i'll have to pay a nice sum to get it "fixed," just so that it will break again in 5 months, and i can shell out more money to a bunch of CEO fuckers. | |

cowboy67 | Re:, 10-19-05 9:12pm well, it's a RS610. it was pretty expensive, and it's only 1 year old, so i thought it would be better quality than this. i'm disappointed and frustrated. i don't have the funds to keep repairing something i bought on purpose so that i could avoid having to repair it!

angelaliberty | 10-19-05 8:37pm I recommend the PC Clinic on Harper.. right by your house actually. I have their number if you want it. They were really helpful, and they back up all your stuff for you. |
cowboy67 | Re:, 10-19-05 9:10pm hehe actually, they were the first place i thought of, because i remembered talking to you that one time about them. i gave them a call tonight and left a message.

angelaliberty | Re: Re:, 10-19-05 9:46pm I didn't really compare prices, so I don't know how reasonable they are, but since it's a small place I figured it'd cheaper. They charge $60/hr for labor, then any parts you need. I'm don't remember how fast they fixed mine exactely, but I was only charged 1/2 hour for labor, so I'm sure it just took a couple days. I think they look at it for free too, and then they can give you an estimate. Hope that helps! |
angelaliberty | Re: Re: Re:, 10-19-05 9:47pm it'd BE* cheaper

cowboy67 | Re:, 10-20-05 12:49am well brandy, if you are willing to send me the $1499 needed to purchase an apple powerbook, i would gladly buy one. the thought did cross my mind last summer when i bought the sony, but i didn't have enough money, and my parents certainly don't have enough to finance something like that for me. thank you for the help, though. |
ac | Re: Re:, 10-20-05 9:17am Well, the new g4 ibook's going for $999, but I guess that's a little pricey too, eh? |
Anonymous | 11-09-05 3:01am you do know that the manufacturers warranty is only good for when you open the box and it doesnt work? The reason its only a year is because Sony predicts that almost everyone will have their computers out within a year. So as soon as you hit the power button..bam warranty gone. Thats why you should by those "service plans" from the retailers. They seem like a warranty but really they cover usage, dust, overloads and a bunch of other things. Ive actually gotten my comp fixed because of it. Just something to mull over in your head Laurence.
