I don't know what this semester's going to be like. I have math homework due tomorrow and no math book. I have reading to do for my Cultural Anthropology class and my Principles of Business Management class but I don't have the books for those classes either. I'm trying really hard to get by without buying the books. My family's going through a hard time financially and I don't want to ask them for money. I'm going to go to the bookstore today and copy my math problems out of the book then see if I can borrow/read (while standing around in her room) my friend's books for anthropology. I guess I'll see if I can borrow the business book from a girl at work. Or I could try to get by until next week. I definitely need the math book though. I'm stressing out. |

Anonymous | library, 01-11-06 9:44am what you should do is ask your prof if they have put the book on reserve in the schools library often times profs do that for that very reason |
kthpkc | 01-11-06 2:59pm Ach du arme. I'd help if I could, but I'm not taking a math class this semester or anything (not like it'd help then either). Most professors usually put a copy of the books they're using in the course reserves at the library, so you could check there and/or ask your profs.

loserxdork | 01-11-06 3:33pm I understand what you mean. I don't know what to do because frankly, I'm still in High School but what everyone else suggested seemed like a really good idea. |
sike-a-delic_grasshopper | 01-11-06 3:43pm I'm trying not to buy books too. I have to pay for my own books and that would cost me $500, which I can't afford. I'm going to try to go to the library a lot, and if I absolutely have to buy a book I'm going to check the used bookstore here (not the college bookstore). I'm hoping it'll work for non-textbooks. If you really need a book you could check online at amazon or something like that maybe. I think Tracey mentioned she's not buying books either so she might have some tips.

threshershark | Re:, 01-11-06 8:01pm As long as we're on the subject, I'm buying the books- I'm using the money I saved up working over the summer and it's working out okay. I get most of them used. Hope has a pretty good bookstore, it only cost me 230 dollars this semester. They also have book buy-back here, so you can sell some of them back, also there is an 'underground' book trade organized. But yeah, they're probably at the library on hold like everyone said. |
