knock on wood.

so everyone... how are you all? this place is a little dead... which is lame because it's still my favourite place... so i'll put my story here for your reading enjoyment!

The stars flooded down the fiery night sky with a passion for heat and the red sinking ocean. Blood and talons ripped and tore apart the soft pink flesh, jagged and raw, the wound began to fester and rot. Deep within the infection a star had embedded itself, growing steadily in the warm beating of its new home. Black carrion and poison lymph poured out, coating the body with thick sludge - suffocating, paralyzing, cancerous. The body felt the heart which felt the star which felt the love and ate it, sucking it down like milk and honey raining from its home up near the seat of the Almighty God. Mirrored in the endless tempting sea, the Kingdom of Heaven ringed with a halo of gold watched as its beloved other was torn limb from limb, inside out, mercilessly. Laughing as the dreams began to feel the weight of the poison pouring from the star’s home, the Kingdom believed in nothing more than blind faith in love for the means to redemption or absolution. Lying in wait for his turn to take back the throne, the lion watched with one eye of sliver and the other gold. Flowing mane lost inside the endless grasslands not yet touched by the sludge in the body of the ephemeral flower, blossoming into womanhood.

As the eternal war raged on between the two forces of good, the third army of darkness began to creep into the shadows of disease pouring from the still rushing heart. There it began to build its kingdom, lost within the warm halo around Heaven’s crown. There in the cancer no light penetrated, only the warm moisture evaporating from pain and hope. The Kingdom of Earth shrouded itself deep within the protective barriers of dirt and crimson water, waiting for the lion to make his move against his brother under the breathing flood. The surging waters found their way over the sinking ocean, covering the glass with spiders, stretching their legs for the first time and sending shudders and cracks through the surface. Their silken threads reaching out to the stationary guardians of the night, holding fast the ball of molten desire and solidified passions to the lance it had been impaled on, forcing the orb into its prison and locking the tilt to the harsh bite of ice and the oppression of fire. Struggling, flailing, falling, spinning; the more it fought the tighter the bonds grew until there was nothing left but the stretching arms of blue to cradle and to calm. And still, with every beat of the orb’s failing heart, the Kingdom of Earth grew stronger, faster, harder. The crystals of hatred in their eyes were forming in the mists of miasma of the star’s hope erupting.

All the eyes of the flood were strung on the war, the eyes of the loin and the halo of the Kingdom. Like twins falling from the stars’ dreams, the latter bringing down its fiery weight with crushing force against the crying ocean, breaking the sea’s back and destroying the coast, bringing the sand to its knees and transforming it into the deepest white of marble. Ivory arrows rained up from the ocean, piercing the home of the star, the silver of the loin and the Almighty God’s heart. The last desire to save itself came with its last breath and the ocean fell into itself. And the two hearts came down to their waists in the water, wading under the scorn of the spiders and glass and the endless flood of celestial orbs crashed down upon their wounded shoulders. With the acid of hatred rising to their necks, the brothers looked into each other’s eyes and found that they only saw one sphere looking back. They saw the brother they had lost in the eye of the enemy, and felt the crushing weight rain down onto their hearts with searing pain and blistering mistakes. With one last embrace the brothers flew away to the endless circle above the Kingdom of Heaven and beyond the flood’s home. Under the acid they fell, finding peace in their brotherly embrace.

The entire time, the scene was being watched by the star, hiding and holding its breathing, waiting for its heart to begin beating again. All the while its home was blushing away, straining harder with every pump of blood, sending the poison to the Kingdom of Earth, who was now ascending to the throne of Heaven. And the star flushed with embarrassment and looked around at its mysterious and stolen chambers. Deeply covered with ivy and wishes, the bubbles from children’s dreams, given to and taken by the star, all the while knowing the bubbles would never pop and the wishes would never be realized. The pain of being wrong, of watching the world destroy its self all because of selfish desire clutched to the star, ripping it to shreds, but making it more powerful and whole. The star soaked in the scene, the feelings, the deep pomegranate passions and the emerald deceits. Finally it was ready to emerge. All the delicate folds and all the immaculate details of its shining frame were finally put into perfect order and sent whirring into action, softly at first, like the blushing bride before her veil is lifted, but then harshly, with a clicking like a cicada on a sweltering night, rubbing the heart raw, ripping off the scabs and tearing apart the scar tissue, collapsing the city the Kingdom of Earth had abandoned to the flood. Fresh blood erupted, covering the star with searing life and pain, harsh reality biting deep into its perfectly arranged body. And the fatigued heart finally ceased its endless pitter-patter of life-sustaining warmth and love. Alone it died, in cold, terrifying isolation under a blanket of lies and fallacy.

The star then rose above where the ocean once thrived. There it stood watching its brothers flood into the deep, cold and void crevice; a multitude of colors and freedoms, of hopes and dreams and snowy nights under streetlights pouring across the vast nothingness of death and loss. And the star watched with a sense of satisfaction, the feeling of being nothing and everything at the same time spread slowly across its utter perfection, nourished and cared for by only the purest alabaster love (which could have gleamed if the light had been allowed to touch it). And there the star waited, watching as the water flowed out of its eyes onto the new ocean of hope and rebirth until the flood slowed out to its end. The star then, seeing the guardians holding firm to the threads of the spiders, went and freed the world from the spiders’ cruel intentions and removed the lance from the heart of the despairing orb. Joy overflowed in the orb’s freedom and the seasons of fire and ice were extinguished and thawed and new seasons of passion and comfort began and the tears from the guardians poured down and gave life to the hidden stars in the dirt and filth of the hollow land, giving new beginnings and new hope to the once war riddled and desolate planet. And the Kingdom of Earth looked down from its stolen thrown and believed all this was his doing and felt proud. The clouds brushed up around him like a royal cloak and shielded his eyes from the real creator – covered in blood and growing more and more perfect with every breath its new creation took.

the end.
