Subject: Student Senate - Executive Board
It is tradition that every spring, Student Senate elects new officers for each class. The incoming Vice President of the Executive Board is then chosen to serve during their junior year and trained for Presidency throughout that year to take over as President as a senior. Generally, there are no elections held for positions on Executive Board because they are chosen a year ahead of time to learn the responsibilities of leading Student Senate.
This year tradition was broken and elections will be held to decide the Executive Board officers, leaving those who were trained to fight for the positions they were promised.
We hope that you will decide to vote for this group based on our experience and dedication. Shannon Wilde has been involved in student senate all four years of high school. Moving from Representative, to sophomore President, to E-Board Vice President, Wilde comes prepared for the job as E-Board President.
Andrea Groner also proves to be very experienced. Vice Pres. Groner teamed with the sophomore senate to begin planning Prom 2007. Groner’s creative ideas were highlighted at the 2006 Swirl. She currently serves as the junior class President and is striving to make this year’s Prom a success!
Emma Churchard served as class Secretary beginning her sophomore year. She continues this position as a junior. Churchard has worked alongside Groner to plan Prom. She has also been involved in several senate committees both sophomore and junior years.
Sophomore Lauren Coffman has been chosen by this group as Vice President to succeed Wilde the following year to become E-Board President, if tradition allows. Coffman has a knack for organization and has been involved in student senate as sophomore class President. Coffman has proven to be an asset to Student Senate with her dedication and creative ideas.
Allow us to use our experience and training to become the officers of next year’s Executive Board.

Can I count on your vote?

Re: Re:, 04-29-07 8:42pm

Is the power of one man enough to take down the whole student senate?

Bill says so and he's someone you can trust, day and night he fights for your freedom.

1st of all...
E-board does a lot. I was picked because I was qualified and Emily, who I might add, didn't really know me on a personal (friendly) level before this year, believed I was smart enough and dedicated enough to take on the job.
But don't worry. We'll win fair and square, ya know, from votes from the students who really don't give a flying fuck about student senate, but just about silly little slogans or how pretty you are.
Maybe I'm underestimating the student body. But I really don't see how election makes it any more fair than the system they had set up. Explain that to me.

And on top of that, Emily Secore, who was picked for the job by the E-Board President whom you have so much anger towards, did an excellent job this year. She worked very hard and I plan to do the same if I'm elected.

So... get over it, please. You had a chance to run as well.

Re: Re: Re: Re:, 04-30-07 9:44pm

When I was on the senate, the e-board was appointed and not elected, this really doesn't reflect the opinion of the student body they are supposed to represent. The position I held, I was put into through election where the e-board was not, yet they seemed to have a grudge against me because my officers won and not their friends. I strongly believe that if the e-board was up for election, they would have lost. So for the current juniors to complain that they have to earn their seat on the e-board is pretty asinine. But then again it is high school, therefore it is going to be pretty asinine.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 04-30-07 10:12pm

You really didn't disprove my point at all. Why were you elected? Because your posters were funny. Your group didn't even show up to the meetings. They were hardly involved.
I did earn my seat on e-board. Like I said, I hardly knew the girl as a friend and she picked me because she knew I was going to be dedicated, as it was proven the years before in senate.
Do you honestly think that elections aren't complete popularity contests? The executive positions are too much work to give to elected students who haven't trained for the position or to students who haven't even been in student senate before. What I've seen Emily do this year is a lot more work than I've seen a regular senate class take on. She has something that needs to be done every single day.

But honestly, Phil, what do you care? I don't see you doing anything much better than high school, anyway.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 04-30-07 10:19pm

I ran because people said I couldn't win. I quit caring because I was threatened to be removed from office while planning homecoming even though it was the best homecoming out of my four years of high school.

What am I doing that is better than high school? Let's see, well there's college and my job, I'm responsible for security and first responder duties in the event of an emergency, but then again that's not as important as popularity contests in high school.

Don't talk to me as if I don't know what I speak of because you are walking down paths I have been in the past.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 04-30-07 10:24pm

In all actuallity Shannon I think the Senior Class of '06 voted in Phil because no one really knew what was going on in the Senate or didn't care. But at least Phil was something different. And could possibly give more of a voice to another crowd instead of the ones that were in controll for too long. I voted because someone I knew was going in there. And then I realized that the SS doesn't really do a whole lot. The kids in charge really didn't do a whole lot to me. In all honesty, the real problems weren't fixed and were just kinda swept under the carpet.

We don't do anything?!!
Fine. Won't have Prom, Homecoming, Swirl, Powderpuff, after basketball game dances, talent show, Cedar Pride Week, Student and Staff Appreciation or any of the other MANY things that senate does. Of all people Bill, being one of my best friends YOU should know what we do. And what about all the real problems? Student Senate get's degraded by staff like Mr. A who tell us we are only allowed to do so much. But that's why I can't WAIT to be on E-Board so I can shove it his face, and everyone elses, that we can do so much more.

Actually all I ever hear is about how the Faculty just blow you guys off all the time and don't let you have a say in anything. So if I went by what you said it sounds that SS is just a little thing to make it seem like the Students have power when it's just no more than a game to the Teachers.

And the fact that you would even say something like that when you know how much Shannon and I work at senate.
