It's a bad sign when the people at the Chevrolet dealership know you by name and have your service folder hanging on the wall. |

mbenznut | 05-25-07 2:54pm To start out my day I called Markquart to figure out when my part was due in. After going through an automated menu, that was supposed to be a direct line, I got stuck with a woman who couldn’t find the order. She calls me back later saying that they would get the part ordered and that it should arrive next Tuesday.
I leave to go into town and I get an orange warning light on my dash. You’ve all seen those Onstar commercials where the lady presses the button and the operator tells her what’s wrong with her car. I figured what the hell and tried it. Well my operator did a diagnostics check, and apparently whatever light was on didn’t register with the on board computer. Just a thought, but why have a warning light that isn’t linked to the part of the car mechanics use to fix it? I tried to describe the light to the Onstar guy and he said that light wasn’t listed in his manual. He suggested that I look in my owner’s manual, call Chevrolet customer service, or visit the local dealership. Just a thought, but if it’s your job, wouldn’t you know all the warning lights on a car? After all how many lights can there really be?
So I visited Karl’s Chevrolet, and was greeted by the service manager by name. When I told him that I had another light on, he just gave me this look. He walked over to the wall and pulled out my folder, not from a filing cabinet, but from the wall where they had easy access. We went though the file, apparently the tire pressure monitoring system is a common problem with these cars (that was what the stupid light was). To fix it they have to install a new keyless entry system. Yes, the tire pressure monitoring is linked to the keyless entry, which sounded dumb to me too. I’ll be going in next week for that because they don’t have the parts to fix it right now. While they’re at it the rear suspension will be replaced and they are also looking into why I’m getting such poor gas mileage.
My car is a piece of shit.
