my point is not to protest. my point is that people need to think a little harder before they jump into things. i'm not against the war. i'm against killing. i'm against people who think because Bush is president, he is always right. we need a generation of critical thinkers, and too many of us are simply mindless sheep.

i dont appreciate the harassment I've received from the floor on this issue. i would like to think that you were all intelligent and mature enough to respect someone else's opinion. unfortunately, with all the jeering, the anti-american comments, and the signs mocking protesters, I can't resepct any of you anymore. I can't ever look at you guys in the same way again. Next time think about how YOUR actions impact others.

"We need a generation of critical thinkers" eh? So since I don’t agree, that means I am harassing you? OK reality check time.

Neither I, nor Andy said anything disparaging to your person. We only disagreed with your points. In fact, both Andy and I agreed with your right to protest.
“I dissent
That is fine”

“The United States military spends $65,573,200,000 per month. Why?
So you can protest the war and nto be shot for it.”

““Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”
-Martin Luther King Jr.”

Let it also be know that in Iraq right now it is a crime to oppose Saddam, very much unlike the freedoms which we are trying to grant the Iraqi people. Your family wont be imprisoned or raped for saying things against Bush.

I hold nothing against protestors. Before we committed troops, I too was against the war. But, now I just pray for the war to end as soon as possible, with as few causualties as possible.

In regards to “posters”, I only like to hold my counter points when protestors say something stupid. We all say stupid things sometimes. I can’t stand when people say this war is over oil, or because the United States is trying to build a global empire. I also can’t stand when people say “War is never the answer”. War is AN answer; it just isn’t the best answer. But unfortunately, it is the only answer when 12 years of diplomacy has failed; we are left with few other options.

If my freedom of speech evident in my poster is bothering people that much, I will remove it. Just keep in mind “i would like to think that you were all intelligent and mature enough to respect someone else's opinion”.

Sorry.

I'll never really understand protestors. Many of them are so closed/single minded that its almost a miracle of science that their life functions continue. They want you to open up your eyes and accept their position on an issue but if you attempt to do the same to them you stand to be accused of being closed minded and a puppet of those they protest. How odd that the goal of protest is to open eyes while being blinded by the issue. How odd that people would ever go to war over something as simple as a differance in opinion.

The biggest evils in this world are a direct result of the fact that everyone has their own opinion on whats right. Maybe if we were all stupid this world would be a better place.

"we need a generation of critical thinkers, and too many of us are simply mindless sheep."

You would be hard pressed to find anybody that agrees with that statement more than me. But it is not simply people being mindless sheep. It is those of us who believe in this ideal for society, those of us who are critical thinkers, to not dismiss those who we may think are inferior. I see it everyday Stef, didn't you see it when you worked at KFC, the way people look down at you. We need to realize there are very real reasons for people to believe what they do. They are not mindless sheep simply for agreeing with the majority on one issue. I'm against the killing too. 49 of our soldiers, and countless hundreds, perhaps thousands of other human beings, are dead. But at least, at the very least, these deaths are not in vain. Allowing a man to control weapons that could be used to kill thousands, perhaps millions, with no purpose at all, is much worse than those who are dying now. We will all face death, and I don't know about you, but I want my life, or even my death to mean something.

As for the religious, I'm not sure what to say because I am. I can't imagine living one day without the knowledge I have in that regard.
