"Say I remember when we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown
Observing the hypocrites

Said I remember when we use to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire lights
Love would burn on through the night

Everything 's gonna be alright
Everything 's gonna be alright"

I can't take this anymore. I want you all to realize we know nothing. Accept that with all your convictions and beliefs, everything is impermanent, and there is no black and white; the world is washed over in grey. There is no right answer, so don't pretend there is. The only right answer is that there is no right answer.

Does anybody out there have any original ideas or are we are just going to pull our collective arguments off of quotes.com and CNN?

"Sadam is a narcissistic psychopath. (Narcissistic: A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, or lack of empathy. Psychopath: A person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse.)"
Funny, I thought you were an engineering major Mike, not a licensed psychologist. Let's leave the diagnoses to the professionals.

Having an extensive understanding of human behavior myself, I know how ethnocentric our country is. Don't pretend that you truly care about the Iraqi people, the Kuwait people, or even Joe Blow down at the end of the street. Jump on the bandwagon, because this week it's cool to be a war protester... oops, I mean a war supporter. All the cool people are sitting on the fence; everyone's doing it you know.

How about instead of spreading our immaculate form of democracy on the rest of the world, we focus on providing for our own citizens before we police the rest of the globe. LBJ's focus when he arrived in office was social reform before he was destroyed by the Vietnam conflict. Health care, homeless, women's rights, EDUCATION, social security... nah, we're fine here, you just go ahead and take care of everyone else's problems.

We are all eqaul, we are all human beings, and we should treat each other like it.

"It is true that the United States accounts for half of the money spent on military worldwide. However, it is also true that since America also has 50% of the worlds total money, which means what we spend, is AVERAGE!"
Please explain how this makes any logical sense. I bet you we eat at least half of the world's food as well. Does that mean our obesity problem is AVERAGE then, on par for the rest of the world?

If Saddam is so evil, then why do all of you only care when our president tells you to. Funny, the only times I've seen between the two Gulf Wars was as Satan's lover on South Park.

1940s - Hitler
2001 - Osama (Osama who?)
2003 - Saddam
2004 - TBA
Now accepting applications for the next posterboy of evil.

You may think you know my views, but you don't have a clue. I give you what you need for a bite, then I reel you in. "Because the hook brings you back, I ain't tellin' you no lie. The hook brings you back, on that you can rely."

"I'll never really understand protestors. Many of them are so closed/single minded that its almost a miracle of science that their life functions continue." Well thank you for that extremely open-minded contribution.

I leave you with the words of the great Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh:
"Smiling is very important. If we are not able to smile, then the world will not have peace. It is not by going out for a demonstration against nuclear missiles that we can bring about peace. It is with our capacity of smiling, breathing, and being peace that we can make peace."

There, I think I covered just about everything. If I missed someone, just stop by on Monday, I'll be the one in socks and sandals.

Ahem I quote… “What is right is not always clear.” That is not some quote I got from quotes.com or CNN. That is something I said recently in a statement that has us all against each other. I never meant for this to happen. I just wanted to know that even though I don’t right some thing on the back of a t-shirt, I too have views. I refrained from expressing mine, until I needed too. Now, everyone who is Anti-Sadam is called mindless sheep. Through that, I never said that anyone against war is against America. I was against war for a long while, and I still am to an extent, I just can’t stand it when people say that our military is out there killing babies. I have friends in the Military. I don’t refer to them as privates or baby killers; I refer to them as David Darling, Dennis Hannah, Scotty Oninzo, Mike Zomer, etc. I could go on if you like. I thank God every day that I am not in their shoes. I wouldn’t be able to kill someone even if he were shooting at me. But this job must be done. If a dog has rabies then you have to put it down. It might not be pretty, and it wont be easy. It’s not something you want to do it’s just something that has to be done.

I’m sorry if I overstepped my bounds.

“Let's leave the diagnoses to the professionals…
Having an extensive understanding of human behavior myself…”

(Last I knew, you didn’t have a degree either, and if you think that taking a few more classes than me qualifies you to tell me that Sadam is not a fucking nut, I think you should see a shrink yourself.)

“Don't pretend that you truly care about the Iraqi people, the Kuwait people, or even Joe Blow down at the end of the street.”

Ok, so I’m an insensitive bastard now? Don’t think that because you are a “Fucking Head Shrink” Major that gives you the right to judge me. You know nothing about me. Do you know I have relatives at Qatar? I’m glad you told me I don’t give a fuck about them, or “Joe Blow” across the hall, no if you’ll excuse me I have to go jam a thumb up my ass, because I’m a bastard.

“All the cool people are sitting on the fence; everyone's doing it you know”

Last I checked, war supporters didn’t hold daily protests. We aren’t the one’s who make cool signs, and neat t-shirts. We’re the ones sitting in our rooms watching the news, praying things will be alright.

“nah, we're fine here, you just go ahead and take care of everyone else's problems.”

How do you think it would look if we said, “Sorry, South Africa. We know you have an Aids epidemic but we aren’t quite paying for every American’s education yet.” Do you think all of you psycho-bull shit you learn here will mean jack shit if you were in Israel ridding a buss when some fucker blows it up. Now that’s a bad example, what the fuck would you be doing in Israel? Let’s just say you were going to work on some Tuesday, and some guys hi-jack a plane an run it into your building. Will the last thing you think, as you are being burned alive be, “I should have had more of my education paid for by the government.”

World Peace is a priority too. Sorry if you rate Social Security over thousands of peoples deaths.

“Please explain how this makes any logical sense. I bet you we eat at least half of the world's food as well. Does that mean our obesity problem is AVERAGE then, on par for the rest of the world?”

Well, lets see here… The reason we have higher rates of hypertension and obesity is not strictly because of diet. I mean Japanese people have a much higher average calorie intake, and they are some of the skinniest people on the planet. It is more factors of Stress, and Lack of Exercise. Those things are the most direct cause of obesity and hypertension, not diet. And for the record we eat nowhere near half of the world’s food.

“If Saddam is so evil, then why do all of you only care when our president tells you to. Funny, the only times I've seen between the two Gulf Wars was as Satan's lover on South Park.”

Get your head out of your ass then. In 1998 Sadam ordered all weapons inspectors out of Iraq. As a result Bill Clinton bombed him. I supported Bill Clinton in that instance. I also supported him in Bosnia and Kosavo. Not because he was president, not because he was Democrat, but because I believed in the cause. I have watched CNN since I was 8, I knew Osama’s life story long before Sept. 11. Did you? Nope. He obviously wasn’t mentioned in “American Beauty” or “South Park”

Now since you apparently can go to quotes.com I guess I’ll give you something to chew on. This sounds clip is of a guy who actually lived under Sadam, and called into a radio station while an Anti-war activist was taking questions. While you are listening to this, think to yourself, “Does he know more than I about Sadam?” (The answer is yes)

Grr... I thought I made this pretty obvious with the journal entry, and I tried to explain it earlier, but people were busy sqawking over me, so I'll try and explain it. I was trying to demonstrate the hypocrisy and self-righteousness that everyone is bringing to this war situation. For instance, I made a statement such as "Everyone should stop quoting other people" and what did I do at the end of the entry? I quoted someone. I even italicized all the instances of hypocrisy to make it easier for all of you. Notice that the phrase "having an extensive knowledge of human behavior myself" is italicized. If you guys honestly believe that I am that condescending, then you obviously don't know me that well. All I'm trying to show you guys is that some people are completely intolerant of other people's views regarding this war. Standing by your convinctions is an awesome thing, but not if it comes at the cost of sacrificing empathy for the other person's views. Please, just try and understand where the other person is coming from before you call them "unpatriotic" or a "baby-killer." All we are doing by fighting about it is spreading anger, and that's not something we need right now. The other thing I wanted to point out with the entry was that if you are so die-hard sure of your views, you shut out new possiblities and explanations and viewpoints. I'm not anti-war and I'm not in support of the war. I only speak up about something when I know all the facts and I feel strongly about it, so that's why I've kept my uninformed opinions to myself up until this point. I just hate it when people get all "high and mighty" on me because they think they know that their views are the ultimate truth and that I'm full of shit. I'm not necessarily talking to every person who reads this, so don't freak out on me, Mike, but I'm saying we all deal with such people on a regular basis.

And yes, I still believe we are all mindless sheep led by what our media tells us to believe. But I'm thought this long before this war started. We all have our own views, but those views are shaped by what those in charge deem necessary to show and tell us. Go watch Bowling For Columbine if you don't think that the media doesn't have a profound effect on how we think. Or better yet, examine a teenager watching MTV.

I dunno, I'm done, I hope you all understand what I was trying to accomplish now. I was trying to provoke you, you guys get riled up so easily. Just take it easy; yes this is a very important issue, but just relax. Both sides, everyone just needs to take a breather. Meanwhile, I'll try and take my own advice. But I swear to god, I'm not taking this freakin' socks off!
