| There once was a little girl who hadn't seen her mother for seven years. The little girl was given clothes made of iron, and told she could go see her mother when they wore out, so the little girl rubbed the clothes against the walls for a long time, and finally they wore out. So the little girl got her hood, some bread, cheese, and butter, and went to see her mother, but on the way, she met a wolf, who asked her what was in her basket; "Bread and cheese and butter" said the girl. "Can I have some?", asked the wolf. "No, they are for my mother", said the girl. "Which way will you be taking to your mother's house? The way of Pins? or of Needles?", asked the wolf. "The way of Pins", said the girl. So the wolf hurried down the path of Needles, and ate the little girls mother. Now the little girl arrived, and knocked on the door, and the wolf said: "Come in, it isn't locked", and the girl pushed on the door, but, it wouldn't open, so, she crawled in through a hole. Once inside she said to her mother: "Mother, I'm hungry", the wolf said: "Their is some meat in the cupboard, eat that" So the little girl ate the meat, but then a cat came, and said: "You are eating your mother's flesh" and the girl told the wolf: "Mother, this cat says I'm eating your flesh", "Throw your shoe at the cat", said the wolf. The girl threw her shoe at the cat, and it ran away, then the girl said: "Mother, I'm thirsty", "Drink some of the wine in the bottle", said the wolf. As the little girl drank the wine, which was really her mother's blood, a bird came and said: "You are drinking your mother's blood" The little girl said to the wolf: "Mother, this bird says I'm drinking your blood", "Throw your hood at the bird", said the wolf. The girl threw her hood at the bird, and it flew away. After the girl had eaten the meat, and drunk the wine she said: "Mother, I'm sleepy", "Then get undressed and come lie down", said the wolf. The little girl got undressed, and as she neared the bed, she saw her mother lying in a strange position. "Mother, what big ears you have" said the girl. "All the better to hear you with, my dear", said the wolf. "Mother, what big eyes you have", said the girl. "All the better to see you with, my dear", said the wolf. "Mother, what big claws you have", said the girl. "All the better to hold you with, my dear", said the wolf. "Mother what big teeth you have", said the girl. "All the better to eat you with, my dear", said the wolf. And the wolf ate the little girl. |
