Is this what it feels like to be stuck? Like birds who have their wings clipped? Cats with cones so they can't scratch their own ears. Little girls with henna in their clenched fists, wrapped in a cloth, who can't touch or hold anything. Amputees. A paralyzed man who can't get his legs to move no matter how hard he tries. Infertile couples who can't have a baby no matter how hard they try.
This is what it must feel like to have all the money in the world and be stuck on a desert island. To have an electric coffee maker and no where to plug it. To paint a masterpiece in your head and not have any paper to put it down on. This is what mute singers must feel like.
I'm a photographer without a camera. A camera without film. Or film without a camera. A roll of film that will never ever be developed.
A developed roll of film that will never see an enlarger or be seen in a photograph.
Yes, I think that was it. A developed roll of film that will never be seen in a photograph.

hooray!
yesterday when i got home from school, my mom told me that the detroit police had just called because they'd recovered my car.
apparently they found it by accident... some cops were just driving around on their routine and happened to see a car that looked "out of place" for the particular area they were in, and it seemed suspicious. they followed the car, the thief didn't signal when he turned, so the cops were about to pull him over and checked the plates and - bam! - stolen vehicle. they pulled him over and arrested two guys: a 20 year old and a 22 year old. not WSU students.
they took my car to the detroit police impound lot, so my dad and i had to go down there to pick it up. that was an adventure in itself (reminiscent of trying to pick up brandy at the amtrak station across from white castle at 3:00am in detroit).
my car was pretty much okay. the steering column was busted (it was "tilt-wheeled" it, not hot-wired) and the driver's side door lock was broken. everything that had been neatly organized in the glovebox was strewn about on the floor of the car, but i'm pretty sure they left all of those things in tact. they stole the spare tire and wheel, my WSU parking permit, my sunglasses (and case), all of the change i had, my tire pressure gauge, and... some hand sanitizer.
they left a grocery bag in the backseat that contained toilet paper.
anyway, thank god(s) that i have my car back! and thanks to all you cats who sent good thoughts and wishes.

2007 10 April :: 7.20pm
my car was stolen today at 10:37am
i went to my parking spot in the structure after class today (around 3:30) and my car wasn't there. i called the wsu police and filed a car theft report with the cop they sent. he, heather, and i went to the parking security office and got permission to watch the video surveillance, and i saw my car being driven out at 10:37am, approximately one hour after i parked it.
it was a sneaky job -- there was no one caught on tape walking up to my car or anything. but, a shady-looking van paulled into a spot near my car about 5 minutes before it was stolen, and then my car was driven off, and then shortly after, someone came and took off in the van.
so, we think what happened is that the thief probably staked out my car and knew i parked in the same general area every day, pulled in, walked in front of the noses of the cars so that he wouldn't get caught on the cameras, stole my car and took it somewhere, then came to get his van.
using the freeze-frame, we weren't able to get a good shot of the driver in my car -- it was way too blurry. you would think with the tuition we pay, the structures would be equipped with like HD quality cameras in case of a mugging, rape, or car theft... but apparantly not. we were able to get the license plate of the van, though.
anyway, it sucks. i liked my car a lot, and it's a big inconvenience. on the bright side, i wasn't injured and nothing of great value was in my car when it was stolen.
please think positive thoughts for me (e.g. that my car is in-tact and they find it soon!).
thanks.

:: Music: if anyone know whos sings this song or what it's called, i'd love to know
Because you came to me
with all I dreamed could be
I can live again
with no regrets for dreams that died
before you came
Because I loved you more
than words could ever say
I can touch those stars
that seemed so very far away
before you came
(chorus)
There's a world for us to find
far beyong the rainbow's (light/line?)
with new horizons everyday
and love to guide us all the way
eternally
eternally

and i know that you're busy, too
i know that you care
you got your finger on the pulse
you got your eyes everywhere
and it hurts all the time when you don't return my calls
and you haven't got the time to remember how it was
it's so cold in this house

Attention Lorenzo Van Tango and Dr. Osev!
We, the young Fillon couple, cordially invite you to join us in the Phililppines over the summer. Jay has agreed to be our tour guide, and has kindly suggested I invite my "Joes" (which is pinoy slang for "Americans" apparently).
I know it's kinda out there, but I'd love for you guys to come. Jay is going to be pretty busy with the band, and I'll be working as the photographer only during the actual concerts. I'd love for you guys to be with me during my first visit there. It would mean a lot. Obviously, I understand that you all have plans for the summer, and Danielle is a working stiff now and Laurence has a lot on his plate with graduation and surgery. But know that the invitation is open. *goofy grin*
