ron paul for 2008?
most of the 2008 presidential candidates have profiles on myspace.com, so i was checking them out to see what their supposed intentions are and how they stand on some issues.
many of them didn't even have info. on their stances, but i did find someone who seemed to be logical, realistic, and committed to what the actual laws of this country are. he's a republican, but i agree with almost everything he claims to believe in. he seems to be the most common sense-type and the least infotainment-type who has to use hype to dog on other candidates instead of simply talking about himself and what matters for the country.
read what his stance is on issues here.
he mentions things that are really important, like privacy issues (patriot act, national ID cards, etc.), that other candidates don't.
i'd love for a woman to be president, simply for the symbolic victory it would represent, but if hilary is going to perpetuate the same crap of talk-to-appease-but-continue-corruption-and-militarization-of-the-country then it's not even worth it.
obama looked pretty good, but then he started talking about injecting faith into politics and the country... and i said see ya -- separation of state and religion no matter what.
john edwards also looks good for now, but i'd like to know more about where he stands on issues of privacy and civil rights for minorities and stuff.
any of you guys have any info on the candidates?

39 days, bitches!
I am so excited to come home!
So at the u here there are four or five levels of classes. At the beginning of the year, we took a placement test to get into a level. Most of us got in level 3 but two of us were placed in level 2. Anyway, the only test we have is at the end of the year. In France, doing well on the exam means getting 50 percent but at home, that transfers back as a D. On everything. So last year's group made a stink and this year, one of our professors here expressed concern for our sucess on the exam. She signed us up for level 2's exam so we could actually pass. I still have to take level 3 but they take the best grade you get anyway in the end.
So I am not worried.
Just waiting to come home.
I love you all.

you go, girl!
"... one can only imagine the reaction of many Palestinians when an American president who has invaded two Muslim countries, whose budget calls for half a trillion dollars in military spending, and who defends torture and the detention of prisoners without trial, tells them to renounce violence and recognize the legitimacy of a country that is illegally occupying their land."
- Rachelle Marshall, from The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, April 2006.

I am done with fucking France. I hate it here. I am ready to come home.
Oh and our wandering across Europe had us go to Budapest, Prague and Brussels. It was fun. And the weather is really nice.
But i just want to come home.
Oh and Kurt Vonnegut's death upset me. It made me think about Katti and Oliver and I just heard him on the radio before I left...
Then this school shooting. The world is falling apart while I am gone.
And why isn't anyone awake and on msn at 6 in the morning?
I want to come home.

hooray!
yesterday when i got home from school, my mom told me that the detroit police had just called because they'd recovered my car.
apparently they found it by accident... some cops were just driving around on their routine and happened to see a car that looked "out of place" for the particular area they were in, and it seemed suspicious. they followed the car, the thief didn't signal when he turned, so the cops were about to pull him over and checked the plates and - bam! - stolen vehicle. they pulled him over and arrested two guys: a 20 year old and a 22 year old. not WSU students.
they took my car to the detroit police impound lot, so my dad and i had to go down there to pick it up. that was an adventure in itself (reminiscent of trying to pick up brandy at the amtrak station across from white castle at 3:00am in detroit).
my car was pretty much okay. the steering column was busted (it was "tilt-wheeled" it, not hot-wired) and the driver's side door lock was broken. everything that had been neatly organized in the glovebox was strewn about on the floor of the car, but i'm pretty sure they left all of those things in tact. they stole the spare tire and wheel, my WSU parking permit, my sunglasses (and case), all of the change i had, my tire pressure gauge, and... some hand sanitizer.
they left a grocery bag in the backseat that contained toilet paper.
anyway, thank god(s) that i have my car back! and thanks to all you cats who sent good thoughts and wishes.

2007 10 April :: 7.20pm
my car was stolen today at 10:37am
i went to my parking spot in the structure after class today (around 3:30) and my car wasn't there. i called the wsu police and filed a car theft report with the cop they sent. he, heather, and i went to the parking security office and got permission to watch the video surveillance, and i saw my car being driven out at 10:37am, approximately one hour after i parked it.
it was a sneaky job -- there was no one caught on tape walking up to my car or anything. but, a shady-looking van paulled into a spot near my car about 5 minutes before it was stolen, and then my car was driven off, and then shortly after, someone came and took off in the van.
so, we think what happened is that the thief probably staked out my car and knew i parked in the same general area every day, pulled in, walked in front of the noses of the cars so that he wouldn't get caught on the cameras, stole my car and took it somewhere, then came to get his van.
using the freeze-frame, we weren't able to get a good shot of the driver in my car -- it was way too blurry. you would think with the tuition we pay, the structures would be equipped with like HD quality cameras in case of a mugging, rape, or car theft... but apparantly not. we were able to get the license plate of the van, though.
anyway, it sucks. i liked my car a lot, and it's a big inconvenience. on the bright side, i wasn't injured and nothing of great value was in my car when it was stolen.
please think positive thoughts for me (e.g. that my car is in-tact and they find it soon!).
thanks.
