Going Away
On June 14, I am leaving to work at a summer camp in Wisconsin. I'll be back August 12, and will leave again for Poland August 24. Who knows if I'll ever be back again after that. So.. I'm having a party to see people one last time.
Where: Jessica Schmidt's dad's house (the one in town)
When: Monday, June 12 (today)
When: 5:00 - ?
Old friends, new friends, I don't care. Whoever wants to come can come, just as long as I know you. No alcohol or drugs.
If you have any questions or need directions, you can call me and Jessica: 616-696-1747

I'm rooted like a tree.
I associate parts of my person with the beads on my wrists and the links around my neck.
I associate parts of my person with strictly pointless aspects of my curls: soft, dull, eccentric, romantic.
I associate parts of my future with the troublesome affairs of the past and the wonderfully languid affairs of my present.
I associate myself with you.

Kurt Vonnegut was on BCC World News' World Book Club (The Word) on NPR at 2:30 this morning.
He was hilarious.
You can listen to it here.
You should check it out. He talks about Slaughterhouse 5.

The triadic state of undress is only of secondary importance. My primary concern is skin.
My own personal convictions aside, how accurate are the stereotypes about sex, sexuality and gender? How often do you see intelligent, educated women in power loafers stop and swoon over diamonds and other sparklies? When was the last time you saw a guy turn around because he heard the rev of an approaching Mustang?
And then, help me out here, I have an informative speech to present on Monday about the correlation between shock value and ethics. So let me ask you. How ethical do you think it is for a university student at AUD to walk into a classroom and pretend he's going to set off explosives within the hour? How ethical is it if it's a part of a shock-value advertising course? How ethical is it that he's been expelled for it?
Just general questions.
There. I have woohued.

My boss has skin cancer. She says it's the good kind. So does the internet.
So hopefully it'll be okay. I hope so. She deserves better than being screwed over repeatedly.
I love you all.
P.S. France looks hopeless. I'd love to talk more about it but I just feel like crying. I want to go home and play KH2 and cry. I'm at work, waiting to go make copies.
P.P.S. I'm bored with my hair already. I want it longer again.

Ahhh I have a cold!?
Nooooooo
Not cool. I haven't been on here in a while. Bridal shower was fun. Moving is, well, moving. Baby is getting much bigger. Wedding is this FRIDAY!!! Honeymoon to who-knows-where! (Surprises!) Exciting. Work could be going a little smoother but ya know. I felt the baby last week and then we went to our appt. and found out the feet are by my belly button so it was definitely the bambino. That was exciting! And the heart rate went from 150s to 150s-160s. Girl! That's what I think at least. Alexis Evelyn Shick. Or for a boy, Caleb James Shick. Anyway, I have to go to bed for I am sick. And tired.

Bachelorette party was Saturday. Tons of fun! I won money too :-) Thanks Becca! ! !
Ahhh I don't feel so well today.
Lots of stuff to do. Charlie and I still have to finish registering at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Got my hair done last night. Friday is another doctors appt. :) And Saturday Charlie's mommy and sister want to take me out for corset shopping! :-) Lots of fun. Sunday morning Char and I have to finish registering and then the Bridal Shower is in the afternoon. Then I have to pack. Monday we're going to the flea market and then I have to start moving more stuff. I can't BELIEVE next Friday I will be living in a new house and married. Then next weekend is our honeymoon which I have to pack for.
Oh man there is so much stuff to do! I bought Charlie's ring yesterday but they have to special order it. So it's supposed to come in time.
I'm just babbling so that's about it...
Oh and I'm pretty proud of myself, I actually lost weight, not gained, lost! Crazy.

I'm doomed.
I heard this on BBC World News last night/this morning:
"New research suggests that a diet high in dairy products can greatly increase a woman's chances of having twins.
A study in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine showed milk drinkers were five times more likely to have twins than women who ate no animal products.
The numbers of twins in the world has increased significantly in the past 30 years, in some countries by over 50%.
Scientists have suggested fertility treatments and women delaying pregnancy can help explain the rise.
But this new research indicates that diet can also play an important part.
Ovaries stimulated
In the study, the twinning rates of women who ate a diet including milk were compared with women who followed a vegan, or no animal products diet.
It is believed that a protein found in the livers of animals may be the cause. Called Insulin-like Growth Factor or IGF, it is found in cow's milk and other animal products.
In women it makes the ovaries more sensitive and increases the number of eggs produced. Higher levels of IGF improve the survival chances of an embryo in the early stages of development.
The effect is likely to be greater in countries such as the United States that allow growth hormones to be fed to cattle.
The researcher behind this study says that women thinking of getting pregnant might consider alternatives to meat and dairy products to reduce their chances of having twins, as multiple births are more prone to complications."

I hear that our zoo is going to have a stingray exhibit starting on Saturday in which you can pet the stingrays and stuff.
The kite festival is on Saturday in Grand Haven and I hear that they will have glow-in-the-dark kites at night. I would love to do that also.
So those are my plans for the weekend. If you want in on any of them, feel free to call.
I love you all.
