Some random thoughts:

- The Shawshank Redemption is on at the same time as the encore presentation of Prison Break. That amuses me.

- I've very glad to not be in possession of a car right now, between the cost and the headaches and the upkeep. That said, I fully expected the apocalypse to arrive shortly after gas hit the $3.00 mark.

- I should probably also be counting my blessings that I've traded in the Lions for the Jets. Nonetheless, old habits die hard and I have a feeling this football season is going to be a lengthly reminder that we're not in Michigan anymore.

- "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer" is the most overused phrase in television drama.

- I just saw a "It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your children are?" commercial. I didn't know those things actually existed anymore.

- Naming your child "Wentworth" is just plain mean.

- Brandon Boyd's favorite song is "Alison" by Elvis Costello. I love Incubus.

- Most of all, I miss having someone to split a pizza with.

- I'm absolutely in love with my new icon. Origin: "Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me" episode of Millennium.

I talked to this guy in my German Conversation class. He's been to Europe 5 times, lived in Austria for 6 months, and Munich for 3 months. He's a pretty awesome dude, he's majoring in something political. I had fun talking to him ^___^

I've got German Comp in an hour, I don't like that prof as much as I like the prof from Conv. The prof from Conv. has a haircut much like the chick from Amelie. I like her bunches, she's my fave prof so far.

Ugh, I should probably go back to the room and get my stuff, then leave.

Peace out, yo.

Alright, so I haven't much to say here right now. In fact, I can some up most of my general sentiment tonight with two words: Insomnia sucks.

I have been trying to fall asleep for a solid 3-4 hours before I gave up and decided to sit down here and start writing. I suppose, there is honestly quite a bit on my mind right now. I guess I won't post it here for now, for fear of sounding even remotely angsty. Though, I will still say that I really am getting pretty damn sick of being single. I mean, yeah sure, the freedom is nice. However, if you happen to have morals like I do and look at the notion of a purely physical relationship with disgust (not that I'm not guilty of having such a relationship in the past, but I assure you I felt bad about it the entire bloody time), then you know you really lack certain freedoms you only get in a relationship. For instance: the freedom to cuddle, and kiss. Heaven knows I've been missing those quite sorely for a rather long time now. That isn't it though, this isn't just me craving for cuddling and whatnot, I really just want a girlfriend, a companion, you know?

Well, so much for altogether avoiding angsty shite, though at least I managed to circumvent the majority of it. The time is now 3:53, which basically means that I have just few minutes more than 4 hours to sleep before I wake up (hopefully), and set out on a 25 minute hike to get to my calculus class.

Thank you to anyone who actually read my ramblings here, and allow me to assure you all that I am actually doing far better than I probably appear to be doing.

Farewell my friends, y va con dios.

Here's the game: underline the movies you own, bold the movies you've seen, put those you've only seen part of in italics. Then add three movies to the bottom of the list.

Just watched Steve Carell on the Daily Show. Best. interview. ever.

Dana21x (11:28:46 PM): i had no idea steve used to be on the daily show...
TaoMan1121 (11:29:56 PM): ::sighs::
TaoMan1121 (11:30:53 PM): maybe you should check his filmography on imdb so you don't get caught with you pants down again :-)

Sorry dear, I wasn't going to let you get away with that one without a little exposure.

In some not so great news, my dad called me a little bit ago and told me that my aunt died in a car accident today. The entire family was in the car (they were taking my cousin up north away to college) and the car swerved to miss a dog in the middle of the road and they lost control. Everyone else will be okay, but, yeah... This brings up a lot of implications and considerations that I need to sort through, but not here. I thought for sure as soon as I heard his voice that one of my grandparents had died. This is slightly more... unexpected.

Sometimes I wish I felt more.

September is a big band month.

Switchfoot's new CD comes out on the 13th.

Socialburn's new CD comes out on the 27th. (I'm glad they still sound like Socialburn. Even when they got a new record company. I don't think I can take another Eisley transformation.)

Our Lady Peace's CD came out today.

The Arcade Fire is going to be on David Letterman on the 14th.

Deerhoof's new album's coming out on October 11th so maybe it's just a fall thing.

I'm really excited for Socialburn's CD. Actually, I'm really excited for both Socialburn and Switchfoot. And Deerhoof.

The Books changed their site around. I like it.

I love you all.

P.S. Wouldn't it be nice if The Cranberries weren't "taking a break" or The Smiths were still together? Sigh.

P.S. I know my icon is awful. It's a placeholder until I find something less tacky. Plus it just makes me laugh.

Hi friends. So I made it thru my first day of classes. The first (and hardest) one was calculus. So hard in fact that I dropped it. Long story short, it went right over my head. So I'm taking geography instead. And then I had intro to philosophy. I'm rather excited about this endeavor, although there's a lot of reading/analyzing essays involved. It might hurt my brain. And my last class today was French 202. The professor spoke mostly in French but amazingly I understood most of it. But my homework took way longer than it should have.

On the morrow I have American Lit and more French. Wish me luck!

Yay! I'm so not the only one with a computer [in the TV room] here now!!!! Booyaka, matey!

There's a mandatory hall meeting with the RA today at 9, w00t upon w00ts.

Funny story, y'all! Just sit down and listen to aunty Kittie tell her tale...

So I was purchasing a couple of special order passes at the bookstore in Bernhardt Center. The cashier knew I was a female. This older man comes up to help her and keeps on referring me as he, him, and sir. She looked mortified, I was doing my best not to laugh.

The man leaves and the cashier keeps appologizing profusely while I laugh my ass off and reassure her that it's happened before. And the thing is, I looked like a female. I'm damn sure I did. Sure I was wearing a guy's t-shirt, but it was tight enough to show that I had boobs.

Boooooobs. <--for all you guys out there ;p

So I went back to my room and told Tara, but she didn't seem to find it funny. That girl has no humor when it comes to stuff like that, I think.

[/story time]

Bronco Bash sounded awesome today. Sounded. I never went in, I just stayed at the entrance and talked to this chick about anime. She's nice.

Then I walked back and talked to this guy that was in my group. The one that likes Rammstein. He's awesome, and nice (in my opinion). He and Heishutter (probably spelled that wrong, oh well) would get along well. He hatest the French.

Classes start tomorrow. I'm nervous.

My first one starts at 11. German conversation.

Wish me luck.

No class this morning. Guess QC doesn't start until later in the day just like Western. Going back later for my night class. I'm watching the U.S. Open right now for the simple fact that they are playing a couple miles away from me.

from today's Metro:
CENSUS SHOWS GRADUATES BETTER OFF
"The U.S. census 2004 compiled this information regarding the median annual income by education level:

Less than high school - $21,600
High school - $30,800
Some college - $35,700
Associates degree - $37,600
Bachelor degree - $49,900
Masters - $59,500
Doctorate - $79,400
Professional degree - $95,700"

An extra 30 grand per year for 5 more years of work... I'm up for that. :-P

This could be heaven right here on Earth...
I kind of want to see the movie Just Like Heaven for a few reasons.

1. In the theater, the preview had the song Heaven by Lamb in it. And I love Lamb.

2. I'm curious as to how it would end. Like 50 First Dates, there's not really anyway they can end it. She's dead.

3. I'm a sucker for girly movies.

4. Reese Witherspoon is in it.

I love you all.

P.S. I just wrote my first rough draft for my first paper in college!

Hola all.

I just got a phone hooked up in my room. I can't remember the number for the life of me, and it would be long distance for you all, so just ask Rachel or someone else for it;p

I hunged out with my grandparents today and had chinese for linner. I am now stuffed and enjoying the jamming tunes that someone is slamming out on the piano in the TV room. Damn, he's good. Makes me kinda wish I'd continued piano....

...then I remember my teacher. And how I swear he was a pedophile.

Well, at least there are more people in the TV room, still no one else on a computer though. I feel special ^_^

I do wish that dad would've let me have internet in the room. That'd be so much more convenient.

Blah, Bronco bash tomorrow. Y'all are invited ~_^

Highlights from the latest issue of The Onion:
ANGELINA JOLIE COMING FOR YOUR BABY
"...Immediately after acquiring your child, Jolie will dress it in Betsey Johnson infant wear, give it a faux-hawk, name it after a random passage from The Tibetan Book of the Dead, then resume her relentless search for babies."

from a "Michael Bay" editorial re: March of the Penguins being this summer's suprise hit:
"I'm busy in pre-production planning my next big spectacle (which no one will see because they'll be off watching a 10-hour documentary on park squirrels, no doubt). But if you are in the San Diego area, do me this favor: Go to Sea World, walk into the emperor-penguin exhibit, and punch one those fuckers right in the face. Tell 'em Michael Bay sent ya."

And finally...

RUMSFELD MAKES SUPRISE VISIT TO WIFE'S VAGINA
" 'Despite the hurried nature of the visit, I am proud to report that my wife met and exceeded the operational standards set up by the U.S. military for readiness in a two-front war,' said Rumsfeld in a press conference shortly after the visit. 'I am confident that she can still stand up to heavy fire and serve ably, even in a rearguard action.' "
