Welly, Welly, Welly
My, how the tables have turned... I went down to Rancho this weekend for my grandpa's 70th. Good times, it was snowing ash though. Then Sunday morning my friend Kyle text messages me saying "Deftones and Poison the Well in San Jose tonight at 7, wanna go?" Little did he know that I was 7 hours away and he messaged me at like 11. But it mattered not, I followed up on a few details and got my ass on the road. I had to stop in Paso to drop off my niece, pick up Kris, and take a much needed pee. Then we were back on the road. We made pretty good time until we got to San Jose and Kyle had given us a Left instead of Right direction which completely threw us off and having my cell phone go dead didn't help. So we ended up being late to the show and missed Poison the Well. I have never heard them before so I wasn't really upset but Kyle and Kris were. But oh well, our main agenda was the FUCKING DEFTONES!!! oh man, awesome awesome show!! We were about 30 feet from the stage so we had a good view of that sexy guy. I'm not much of a mosher so trying to keep from being pulled/pushed in was a bit of a challenge at first, but I'm a big guy so I just knocked wussies down. But oh man, when I saw them back in my senior year we were 10,000 miles from the stage, but being so close was wonderful, it was simply euphoric, whew! They played a pretty long set, not in this order but from each album they played: Bored, 7 Words, My Own Summer, Mascara, Around The Fur, Be Quiet And Drive, Headup, MX, Feiticeira, Digital Bath, Korea, Change, Hexagram, Pins And Needles, Minerva, Battle-axe, and Bloody Cape. And between a song he took a quick drink of beer and quoted the movie Old School "it tastes so good on the lips!" oh man! more proof that he's fucking awesome, he's quoting movies. And at the end of Headup he brought up a fan to scream with him, it was fabulous. Well worth the bitch ass drive up and down California. Good stuff. I hope some day we’ll be sharing the stage with them… its not that far fetched actually, because the second band that played sucked ass. I’m not being cocky or overconfident, but I honestly believe we’re a better band than them. ;)

P.S. Get your asses out of Kuwait and come see a Deftones show

P.S. 2: they played our wedding song, it was beautiful

P.S. 3: Come down from Michigan and see their next one with me!

it's snowing in rancho cucamonga.
snowing ASH!
i had no idea how much the fire spread overnight until i went to the library to drop off stuff and saw that the fire has spread across the moutains. right now i'd say it's about equal with sapphire. it'll hit upland any time now, if it hasn't already. it's so scary looking. and it's very messy and not healthy at all for us to be in this. i seriously wanna leave town.
so sad :o(

song of the day
white stripes - black math

Dont you think that Im bound to react now?
My fingers definitely turning to black now
Maybe Ill put my love on ice
And teach myself, maybe thatll be nice
My books are sitting at the top of the stack now
The longer words are really breaking my back now
Maybe Ill learn to understand,
Drawing a square with a pencil in hand
Mathematically turning the page
Unequivocally showing my age
Im practically center stage
Undeniably earning your wage
Maybe Ill put my love on ice
And teach myself, maybe thatll be nice
Listen master can I ask you a question?
Is it the fingers, or the brain
that youre teaching the lesson?
Maybe Ill put my love on ice
And teach myself, maybe thatll be nice

this fire deal is getting really creepy. last night ryan couldn't even go to his house, unless it was to get his belongings, but they had to be escorted to do so. but he lives up in lytle creek. good thing he had his doggy down here! and like 15 mins ago the power went out for 5 mins or so. then my dad's friend called to see if we were ok. very thoughtful :o) but he said they were evacuating up by day creek cause of all the smoke?? i have the news on now but not really paying attention. they just have video of the footage and people blabbing.
you should see the giant clouds of smoke. it's pretty gross. the day before yesterday i walked out of my class, and i was like "what time is it?? only 3!" the smoke was up high in this weird layer over th esun, so the light level outside was equal, to about sunset. naaaaasty. yesterday was the same. i did take a couple of pictures though cause it looked so funky. well i'm going to call my mom now, she works up in that area.

song of the day
in honor of stupid ca drivers

offspring - bad habit

Hey man you know I'm really okay
The gun in my hand will tell you the same
But when I'm in my car
Don't give me no crap
Cause the slightest thing and I just might snap
When I go driving I stay in my lane
But getting cut off it makes me insane
I open the glove box
Reach inside
I'm gonna wreck this fucker's ride
I guess I got a bad habit
Of blowin' away
Yeah I got a bad habit
And it ain't goin' away Yeah
Well they say the road is a dangerous place
If you flip me off I'm the danger you'll face
If you drive on my ass
Your foot's on the gas
And your next breath is your last
Drivers are rude
Such attitudes
But when i show my peace
Complaints cease
Something's odd
I Feel like I'm god
You stupid dumbshit goddam motherfucker
I open the glove box
Reach inside
I'm gonna wreck this fucker's ride

well i had a very lazy weekend/4 days. other than going to church, the apple orchard, the library and gettig my oil changed i didnt leave my house. why did i bring my homework home....i didnt do any of it. i never do when i go home....going home is a bad idea for me if i have a lot of homework because i never do any of it. you know whats cool.....when your coach says that she will email you and tell you what time practice is, and then doesnt. so assuming that itcould be any time from 6-9 you leave at 230 so you can get back on time.....well i still dont have an email...and practice im assuming is at 9.....that means i could have waited untill at least 6 to leave my house, and i could have had a homecooked meal....and not baldwin food. im mad!

"count blessings and thank unions"
i'm copying this from "the mail" feature in the opinion section from today's newspaper.

when you get to work today, look around you. do you see any small children? thank a union for child labor laws.
do you get home after eight hours, or get overtime if you don't? do you get paid for more than a few dollars a day?
do you get breaks. are you discriminated against because of race, age, color, religion or national origin? thank a union.
if you are female, thank them again for equal pay. safe at work? go osha and thanks union.
you may not like unions or be union but every single person who works benefits from the struggle of the union members. so the next time you cross that picket line, thank about who's throat you are really cutting.

I asked, no... I demanded that all my friends and cousins in Rancho go to the Deftones concert with me on the 27th. I reminded them constantly, in person, online, through private messages telling them to PLEASE go. Back in high school I wasn't able to go to the numerous KoRn concerts with them because of my lack of a vehicle at the time, but now we're all in college and we all have vehicles... (used to) and we all have tons of time, they could do me this little favor and go to the concert with me. They know how much I'm freakin' obsessed. I was assured that someone was going to go, so in my excited state I bought my ticket only to find out later that no one else had bought a ticket, and all the floor tickets were sold out. What the fuck guys, thanks for giving me the shaft. I don't really want to go by myself....

La universidad
College should be a place for higher learning. A place you look forward to, to enhance your knowledge. Not a place to dread test scores or presentations or essays. On my way to school I should be thinking, "YES! I'm going to learn how to do such and such today!" Instead its more like, "FUCK! We have a test today!" Don't get me wrong, I've learned quite a bit in college and have been able to apply it, i.e. Human Sexuality. I feel like a freakin' guru, telling my friends how to do this or what that is or why she does this when you do that. ;) In my 13 years of required schooling I've learned that my brain does not function well with math. We all have mental strengths and weaknesses. My brain has a better feel for art, space and linguistics than it does for math and science. Now, I've learned that math is my enemy, so why must college pit us together? High school should've been the sampler plate. Give us a taste of everything to see what we like and dislike so that once we get to college we can focus only on what we like. I want to be able to go to college and enhance my artistic skills and learn twelve different languages. But no, math is there everyday laughing in my face, flaunting its variables, equations, radical expressions and a plethora of other terms that I don't give a damn about. *sigh, I better wrap this up, I have to go to math.....

Update:
Alright, considering only two people read this I don't care if my journals focus around my band, cuz I'm sure you two are gonna judge me, pssh. And if you're tired of hearing about it... TOUGH!!

Anyways... so I guess Matt reconciled with the band this weekend, cuz he showed up and everything was cool. Lou was even there and nothing seemed awry. But anyways, the show on the 26th is off *whew* its not that I'm unprepared, its that I have to go to my grandpa's 70th birthday party in Covina on the 25th and I was afraid I'd feel rushed and stressed and whatnot. But instead we ended up getting a gig for some girl's 16th birthday on Nov. 1st. That is sooo much less intimidating too, it'll be just a bunch of kids. But I'll have to miss the Halloween party previously mentioned... *sigh, its so tough being a rockstar ;)
