:: Music: "Driftwood: A fairytale" ~Cursive
So he would sulk and drink and mope
and cross his arms and hope to die.
And then a fairy came one night
to bring this sorry boy to life.
She pulled some strings
and spun him about.
That boy sprang up
and began to shout,
"My arms, my legs, my heart, my face they're alive!"
And she would cry, "Liar, liar!
What have I done?
You're no lover, and I'm no fighter."
(The story goes on)
So he would buy her things and kiss her hair
to show he was for real.
And she would take those gifts and kisses
though just stringing him along.
She knew about those wooden boys-
it's an empty love to fill the void.
"Pinocchio! Oh boy, how your nose has grown!"
So he would cry, "Liar, liar!
I'll prove it to you!"
But then it grew
He had grown tired of her
So it was true
He left her apartment
And he walked all night long
'til he was stopped by the shore of the ocean.
But still he walked on, amongst the whales
and the waves, and screamed
"Liar, liar!"
And his wooden body floated away.
He just drifed away.
And now I wonder how i was made...
my arms, my legs, my heart, my face,
my name is Driftwood.

Keep churning out those hits, till it's all the same old shit...
I by chance got the urge to look for Cursive CDs at Circuit city. I was looking at which anime DVDs I was hoping to get if I received enough money at Christmas, and I turned around and it was the "C" section of the CDs... so I thought "heck, it's worth a try" and sure enough, they had one copy of "The Ugly Organ"... Probably the only one they ordered since it came out in March. It's artistic, it's bizzaire (sp), and very varied (how about some alliteration for ya)... The first track is intsrumental, sounds like a carnival, and an ugly organ (hence the title of the album...) starts to play... much like meteora there are immediate leadins to the next song (all connected) and it leads into a linkin park-esque screaming song with religious imagery. Then comes 'Art is Hard' (check below or in my archives for lyrics... sweet song. download it), and a few other songs.
The lyrics booklet is interesting; it gives almost stage directions kind of. One song, "Herald, Frankenstein!" (a one-liner... there are a few really short songs on this CD. all this song sings is: "Now I can't stop the monster I've created") describes in Italics a man staggering on stage with a bloody cut on his shoulder. Then he screams the words. Fade to Black. Ensue "Butcher the Song" (That's the next track).
There are also some cool tracks... One called "Driftwood, a fairy tale" is a story about, well like pinocchio, but different. He falls in love with a fairy, lies are told, and the wooden boy jumps into the sea. Then the narrator says, "That's how i became who I am. I am driftwood."
If you see it, you like sort of experimental rock (and don't mind a violin or cello with your rock) buy "The Ugly Organ"... and keep an open mind. It is a bit weird.
On another note, I watched The Animatrix last night, and it was exceptional... Except the one with the dream sequence and psychadelic chase I didn't get. It was really weird. But I liked "Kid's story" "Detective Story" "Program" and the one with the messed up house where the anomaly was... those were my favorites. Anyone else see it?
I'm out... See ya.

Music
From Kailey's recent use of lyrics on her journal, I felt inspired to reiterate my frequent use of lyrics on my journal. Music to me is "The Rhythm of Life" to quote that painting in the stairwell at school. Music is my second heart, a fifth limb, something that keeps me going. Music can lift me up or bring me down from my lowest low or highest high, respectively. Songs speak truths to me. More common than not, my favorite songs are the ones with meaningful lyrics. I hear not just notes and music, but a story. Every song has a story to tell, just like every person. Usually the songs I post at the top of my entries can help describe my mood and thoughts at the time, so those might help you learn where I'm coming from. So look into my archives, read the lyrics, even listen to the songs if you want. Tell me what you think, what you think they mean, what story they're telling, what you see. Music is to be shared. And I'm sharing the music I like, and expressing myself.

Behind Blue Eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

Wow
I saw Revolutions last night, and I have to say I was stunned. It was incredible. From about the moment it started to the end I had that tense feeling... There were a few things I didn't get: 1) The little Indian girl. what was her significance? I think Smith called her the "last exile"... 2) The Train. I think it represented the river Styx in a way, but I'm not sure. It traveled between the machine and human worlds... so I don't think it was the Styx. 3) Who was the Mirovingian, symbolically? Who was he in, like the Bible, or other theology. 4) What happened to Ghost? He like disappeared.
Thanksgiving was good, sans the Lion's victory. If the Jets lose this weekend, they will be worse than the lions... That's pathetic. Bill Parcells left my Jets, supposedly for "management"... the dirty doublecrosser did that for a year then went to... THE COWBOYS... damn.
I'm going to Master and Commander with friends tonight. It could be interesting... it might turn into a date with someone (u know who), and I don't want it to. I'll be sure to find a seating arrangement wher I go to the other end of the row, preferrably next to another girl I'm actually interested in(no names mentioned in this entry... sensitive information, because certain people will read it. Usually I'm forthcoming, but today I'm not)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

well, the barn building was fun this weekend, and when I got home I got to watch Simpsons and Alias... which were great. I wonder: is Linsey dead? It looked like he went stiff when he got shot. And also, what ever happened to that "Miraculous Medicine" that was in Rambaldi's book? The episode where Francie came back was the one where it was mentioned. She was killed, but did the secret go with her to the grave? I'm surprised after last season's wanderings for the mystical Rambaldi diary, that such a storyline like that hasn't been developed. And whatever happened to... oh shit, what's his name. Sidney's friend who didn't know she was an agent but did some research on Russia's "little tyke super child" training program... He's in witness protection, but I wish hew would come back.
Alias was great, but then I got online. Great fun. Natalie's like about to kill herself, nobody will tell me why (I can speculate about a half-dozen scenarios, one or two of which involving me: remember the big secret dealing with Leah that she wouldn't tell me, either? Could be a continuation of that.) Susan's changed where we are going to dinner AGAIN (this is the 6th place), and I have like 5 f***ing hours of Floodlight. oh, well.
I'm off to find out anything possible about Natalie without invading her privacy, because she doesn't want me talking to her. This has really got me concerned.

I'm pretty happy right now, I think. The world seems to be in syncronocity with me, like our "scientific bio-waves are in alignment" (as Erin, my friend in State College, PA said...whatever that means...) I was looking forward to this weekend, but now that I am going down to Minster to help my uncle build his barn... Physical work isn't in my plans for the weekend, but I guess I'll have to. I was going to the movies with friends (despite Katie being the one inviting me, I was going to go, but the second Katie starts turning it into an excuse to get a date with me, I was going to walk out of 'Radio', hide in the bathroom until she stoped following me, then go into "Mystic River" or "Revolutions"...)
But instead, I'm going to build a garage. But okay, I guess it's fine, except physical work...
I'm so lazy.

Perfect Time of Day
I'm feeling pretty good today. Hopefully all the dance shit has been resolved, but Natalie and I still aren't talking. It isn't usually like me to hold grudges, and I don't mean to, but I'm just not talking to her currently.
I took these tests Pat found, and as trivial and stupid they might be, I found some interesting stuff from them.
The first one was a bunch of Questions about who you're walking with in the woods, what body of water do you walk up to, what's on the table in your dream house. As I interpreted from he answer key, whoever I was walking with in the woods was the most important in my life. Apparently I have nobody important in my life (that's a result of misreading the Q, but it was the first thing that came to my head soo...), my problems are rather big, I deal with them in a positive but passive manner, and I have a small ambition to resolve them (maybe because some can't be resolved... liek Colitis). I am open to people. From one question, I interpreted my answer as me having a 50/50 mix of happiness and sadness (if you had food or flowers on your table then u were happy... my image of the table had a vague idea of flowers but no food). My relationship with the person I am walking with (either 'nobody' or the person I thought of when i reread it, Kailey) is somewhat durable, not fragile but not strong. Another Q I interpreted: from 'nobody' or Kailey I an replenished by being with them. From one Q, i figured out my sexual desire is middling, and it will not be major in my life.
Heh.
Interesting.
