First Day of School...
Well today is a totally mixed day. I'm here alone at home for a good two hours, contemplating the plethora of moments today that I will remember for the rest of the school year (it's one of those memory things that's unique to me I think... i always remember the first day of school, the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas break, and the last day. Times of great (not always happy) anticipation)
Schedule is as this:
1 --- Dovick (meh), Morality
2 --- Dornbos, Literature
3 --- Friesner (oh yeah), US History
4 --- Band/Yearbook
5 --- Holt, Chemistry
6 --- Netcott (Yay!) FST
7 --- French
Here's a breakdown for those who care: Dovick was fine, his usual eccentric self. I know Morality is the total "goof off/sleep" class at our school, but I don't know... I'd kind of like to actually learn a bit about what Christianity tells us about stuff, and Walt or Fr. Phil could do that. Walt is also really cool, it'd be fun to have him. Second hour with Mrs. Dornbos is fine, but the workload is what I'm not liking as much. Yes it's not a whole lot some of you say, others say it is a lot, but I'm lazy, I'll go with the latter. but it'll improve my writing. Friesner Rocks. History Rocks. that's all I have to say about US History. Band is the usual... Lowell that new senior came in to class; plays sax. Could be good. Yearbook on the flipside of the hour was, well, I dunno. being in there for the last 5 minutes was disorienting... I had no idea what she said, if anything. Also, there were a lot of people in there... some I don't rub the right way with... and being in there 2-3 days a week and not the whole week will make me feel less useful and more busy I think... At least I have some friends in there. Especially the seniors (Burt and Fatman). Oh well.
That's the morning. Now for the afternoon
Holt gave the 100 question "no idea what the hell is this stuff" quiz. Well, now I know what I'll learn in that class. FST is full of the funny people: Gabe, Kolby, Ted, Brent, Freye, Ray, etc. and French would be fine if I didn't have Ryan Mergener and Laurin (sp?) Korabik in there...
So it's a mixed day. Holt, Netcott, and Dornbos will be my heavy workload classes. Friesner, Dovick, and Heybloom will be fun, and interesting. Band and Yearbook, that's a tossup.

approximately 13 hours of freedom left... *tears streaming down my face, my clothes, and all over the floor in a big puddle*
Yes, you will have to drag me back into school. Kicking, Screaming. I mean, I hate about the first marking period of school, because it's about getting used to new teachers, etc. and learning to fraternize and work with the 60% of your class you didn't see and didn't talk to all summer. After that I get into my groove, and I remember how much I like being at school... outside of classes that is. This year will be questionable. I don't know if it's gonna be a good year or not. And I'm not really up to doing a half-full/half-empty guess.
My dad and I have been getting our Wi-Fi network hooked up. Not much news for me... it will get our second computer on brodaband and they can access each others files (e.g. katie and I don't have to fight over one computer), but otherwise it isn't much use to me currently. If I had my own laptop in my room or a PDA that can access the internet, both unlikely, I could use those anywhere around the house with broadband speed and no wires. But... well, the laptop isn't as far away as it may seem. dad's getting fed up a bit with all the music I'm putting on our newer PC with Morpheus, so he may want that to be moved to my laptop, if I get one. and he kept running tests to see if the wireless capabilities would work in my room... and they did. If he gets this big promotion he's been having months of interviews for, I might be a lucky boy. (Don't worry friends, you can come over and check it out lol)
But sister needs to finish summer reading. I g2g.
**************THIS MARKS THE END OF SUMMER VACATION 2003. NO, REALLY, THIS IS THE END. GO AWAY. THERE IS NO MORE TO SEE HERE (Well, if you really want to hear about my pitiful school mishaps/projects/beatings by Juniors/rants, stick around. There'll be plenty of that)**********************
But go away for now. No wait. read the below entries if you haven't yet. And for nostalgic fun, read the entries in my archives, like the ones from early Junes, around the time of exams. Read about my looking forward to Summer 2003)

wheeeeww
Well, I'm done working at Main Street on a regular basis. Sundays are a possiblity, or people can call me if they can't work. But at least I'm not holding down 2 jobs now. Carol sent me home with 4 slabs of ribs (leftovers from Rib Night yesterday) and I demolished three of them. Now I am stuffed. But it was great.
Thankful words of the day: "I am thankful I am not a starving kid in China because living in America allows me to have Sweet Baby Rays"
I am standing on the brink of school again. Not a great place to be but maybe it is. This school year is going to be interesting, what with all of last year's memorable senior class, new uniforms, a totally reorganized school (teachers teaching different classes, no more school board, etc), and other stuff. This is my first school year since 7th grade i haven't looked forward to in the slightest. At least I have Friesner, Netcott, and Heybloom instead of the triple nightmare: Charron, Sanocki and Bertoia. whew.
(For those of you who feel the need to point out that it was not by chance I didn't get Bertoia but instead it depended on what language I took, thanks. I didn't know that already... But you still can't argue who is the worse teacher, between Heybloom and Bertoia)
Anyways, I need more ribs. I'm out.
P.S. Fatman is NOT dead!!!!! w00t.

I have come today to sing the praises of the movie "Man on the Moon"
I saw "Man on the Moon" the other day. It was incredible. It's about the comedian Andy Kaufman, who was on Taxi and SNL and did standup. He had his own brand of humor, some of it really insulting, so unpredictable that you could never tell if everything he was doing was real or just a show with paid people. It has Jim Carrey and Danny Devito in it, and a bunch of cameos alal over the place. It's a great movie. See it. Then possibly own it.
**Plus, download "Man on the Moon" by REM. it's the movie's theme song. It kix!**

Yay! I don't have to work till 6 tonight!
Ah, but Summer Reading is still needing to be done. Damn.
I woke up today to find my mom leaving to take our dog to the vet. She said our dog was really sick... Not a big deal? I dunno, I mean she's been in our family since before I can remember. She's always been around. Hope everything is okay.
My sister gets home from Washington DC today, and I hope she had a good time. I talked to her a few days ago and she seemed like it was insanesly busy but a blast. I don't know if I could do the same trip next year. Being a year younger than the rest of my class, I might end up doing it between my junior and senior years, which coincides with the summer I take the Europe trip. Damn. Can't do both... they both cost like a few thousand dollars!
Chris Lewis isn't at band practices anymore. Jennifer (his new gf... ugh) said he went back to college cuz 1) his Band Camp is next week and 2) He didn't want to be the bitch at practices anymore. Well Chris, it was ur choice to pick out people, torment them, be overly picky about things like people moving at attention (if you swallowed some of your own spit and he saw your throat move he would give you a warning) then you wouldn't have to be the bitch.
More people who decided I'm gay (but I'm not, I'm serious!): Catherine and Jennifer. (Just cuz I play clarinet in Marching Band-- not symphonic I might add-- and I remember and perform a few dance steps from play sometimes, doesn't mean I'm gay!!!! I was just having a good day yesterday!!!!)
Can someone help me out? What are some of the main themes of the Crucible?

Saw S.W.A.T. today. it was, well, decent I guess. Not great, not as terrible as Bill Iddings said it was. It's rental or a cheap-show fare, not even really worht matinee price.
I'm not gonna be posting much till school starts I think... Summer Reading calls, and I have much to do. Keep watching though you who are reading this... I might need help with Crucible and some of the stuff I need to write.
Things at my church are in a lot of turmoil. The Music director disbanded two choirs, the lady who directed those two was fired, and attempts to reinstall them have been shut down. Not only that, but other things have been happening. Not good.
Work is better. I'm only working 2 days at both jobs (too bad both jobs don't coincide on days... it would be nice to have 5 full days this week off instead of 3 and a shift on the other four.)
Lately people have been asking about me and this one girl, and if we're in a relationship of any sort. People have always said we "would be great for each other", but I've found as much as I want it to happen, it never will for certain reasons, like being rejected a few times by her. I was over it a long long time ago (the rejections were a good 6 months ago) but now that people have started talking about me and her again, I don't know.

I hate Work
This week I have to work a good solid 30-32 hours when I usually work 18-20. My Co-Worker up at the resteraunt is getting some foot surgery done so I'm working 3 hour shifts for today, Tuesday and Wednesday, and Lynn up at Ruth Ann's, finally when I started to not hate every threat of her existance, completely whacks with the schedule and put me down for 5 days when 2 other people are working two. (So 4.5 hours (evening shifts are longer) times 5 is 22 hours... plus about 3.25 hours times 3...) almost 33 hours.
Today my sister leaves for the Young Leaders conference in D.C. It's some thing where they learn about politics, visit senators, and do mock trials and legistlative sessions. I got info on it too this year but 1) I lost it and 2) It would be hard to have us both go at the same time.

I went by Trophy House and bought the new shirts for school. They aren't too bad- they're like a T-Shirt with a collar. Also, rumor is it that we won't have to tuck them in if Shepich gets his way.

Green light, Seven Eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don't smoke, don't even want to
Hey now, check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
Your wheels are turning but you're upside down
You say when he hits you, you don't mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Hey babe, is that what it is
Red lights, gray morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depends on who's around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip synch to the talk shows
And if you look, you look through me
And when you talk, you talk at me
And when I touch you, you don't feel a thing
If I could stay...
Then the night would give you up
Stay...and the day would keep its trust
Stay...and the night would be enough
Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satellite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans
London, Belfast and Berlin
And if you listen I can't call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout, I'll only hear you
If I could stay...
Then the night would give you up
Stay...then the day would keep its trust
Stay...with the demons you drowned
Stay...with the spirit I found
Stay...and the night would be enough
Three o'clock in the morning
It's quiet and there's no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground
Just the bang
And the clatter
As an angel
Hits the ground

French Fry Solicitations...
A French Fry sales rep came to the Resteraunt today peddling, well, french fries.
What a job! I want to work for a fry manufacturer and sell fries. Would probably be the stupidest and most tedious job in the world, but, well whatever.
We decided on a new kind of regular fry (I don't know why we got rid of the old ones... maybe this company stopped making them or they were more expensive) but we got other ones that were similar. That is, if anyone cares. But it was the big news of an otherwise slow day at the resteraunt.
Speaking of resteraunts, I've been watching that show on NBC called (what a brilliant name) "The Resteraunt". I kinda wished I could have watched it from the start, because I really enjoyed the episodes I've seen.

Back from Detroit
I dunno, is it just me or does riding even long distances in the car (even short periods like 3 hours at a time) make you feel 'blah'?
We went to Detroit after church yesterday to go to a Tigers game, to coincide with meetings and interviews my dad had to go to today (Monday). Turns out the game was at 1:05 and the paper said 7:05... so we spend about a day total in Detroit and didn't get to do what we planned... but despite complaints and the blame-game my mother and sister tried to force on my dad and myself, we made the best of it (well, at least dad and me). We passed the stadium in time to see everyone leaving, so we drove around magnificent downtown Detroit (anyone who didn't understand that was sarcasm should be put on the People-mover to be shot by fellow riders) and we went to Greektown. After taking in some Gyros and Mousaka (sp?) we drove thru Centerline for a while (note: find out what the hell is the obsession with resteraunts slapping "Coney Island" on their signs..,) and saw 8 Mile road. (pop-culture landmark even my parents understood)
We then took in a movie; Finding Nemo for 3 of us, Bruce Almighty for Mom (note: Mom is the children's librarian who loves books for 7 year olds but she has no interest in seeing a Pixar film, even if adults like those films too) and we all had a great time. Today dad went to his interviews (we're hopeful he gets this promotion) while the rest of us went to Target. After the interviews we all went to 12 oaks Mall in Novi (I dunno, for being a guy this shopping trip wasn't bad. I test drove Soul Calibur 2, got to sit inside a Mini Cooper and a Cadillac XLR, and got to marvel at about a 1000 kinds of Fossil watches) Then we came home.
I have to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Ruth Ann's and my usual Weds/Fri lunches at Main Street. Wednesday I have to leave band practice early because I have to go somewhere. But I need to find time to do something with Insa while she's back in America.
That's it for now.
Oh Yeah, and I had my first Krispy Creme today. yum.
