My Neighborhood is doing something cool for once!
Grasshoppa is having a concert tonight right in my neighborhood! Yes, that's right, prepville is having a bluegrass band play. And their not some dumb high school band either. I'm geeked.

College Hunting
So I went looking at colleges today. And now you're going to hear about it. Yes...
So first we went to Oakland. It had all kinds of woods and meadows and such, which is cool. And it was pretty small and compact, which means no getting lost. We were poking around in the students union, and I guess we weren't supposed to be, cuz this maintenence guy was like, "Um, how did you get in?" It was funny. I'm not so sure about Rochester (the town Oakland's in). It's not really a college town. Kind of like Rockford on steriods. It had a lot of cool shops and stuff, though. And Detroit's pretty close so.....
Then we went to U of M, which was big and confusing. The campus kind of oozes into Ann Arbor. Speaking of Ann Arbor, that is the most beatific town I've ever seen! The people actually looked happy to be there, which is more than can be said for Rockford most of the time. And people were playing guitars on the sidewalks, which is always cool. I saw a "make art, not war" sign at a bus stop and there were "beat Bush" fliers all over campus. I think I'd fit in there. Visiting U of M made my life more complicated, because I didn't think I wanted to go there, but now I'm not so sure.....
So yeah. I'm done. I hope y'all had fun today.

Being that I only got 2 definite yes's for tonight (thanks Rachel and Brett), the bonfire/box social is off. It looks like it'll rain anyway.
In other news....

Bonfire/box social roll-call
Um, is anyone planning on coming over on friday? I've only gotten one response so far and that's a maybe. So is anyone coming or should I cancel it?
*You can stop reading now. The rest is somewhat pointless*
Tomorow I'm gonna go paint a habitat for humanity house. I'll be back around 5, if anyone cares. Which I doubt :p
I like driving in my commie hat (I love you KT!). People give me strange looks. Yesterday I wore it while driving around looking for a job. Which is funny and ironic. But I didn't actually wear it while asking about jobs and if they're hiring and such. First impressions are everything.

I'm supposed to be looking for tour info on colleges. But I can't remember what colleges I want to visit. Hurrah....
I got a new icon. It's Matt Pike. He played in Sleep. And now he's in High on Fire. I think I'm obsessed.

Today I went walking in the woods. It was fun until I started thinking about the Village. I think I've developed another irrational fear. Those stupid 'ones we don't speak of' are going to haunt me for the rest of my days like the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz. Which is kind of funny.
On saturday night there are 3 metal shows on digital cable: Uranium, Headbanger's Ball, and Metal Mania. It makes me think that cable programers assume metal heads don't have a life. In my case it's true but I wonder about the rest of the metal population.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm actually very "weird" or a "freak". I mean, I know I am by Rockfords narrow minded standards, but what about the rest of the world? Maybe I'm actually-dare I say it!- normal! One never knows....
I'm thinking I should have y'all over. Sometime next week, maybe. Because everyone seems kind of busy at the moment. Plus Katie will be back. I think.
Ok, I'm done. Bye.

Wow.
The title of my journal is "Believe in the day". I thought I got it from David Thoreau, but nope, it's from a Jethro Tull song. Wow. Sometimes I amaze myself.
My dad is leaving today because he has a meeting tomorow morning in Indiana. That pisses me off. Sometimes I wonder why he doesn't find a different job.
That is all.

I couldn't sleep last night. The Village really fucked with my head. Just like every other scary (or not so scary) movie I see. Yet I will continue to see them for the remainder of my life. I never learn.

Dumb
If I ever start a band I want to call it A.L. Gore. The A stands for agonizing and the L stands for lurid. So it's Agonizing Lurid Gore.
God, that was dumb. Sorry.

You think you know me but you haven't got a clue.
I'm bored and am starting to freak out because I haven't hung out with anyone for a long time. So I think I'll call people today. I put that in writing so I'll actually probably do it.

Anne Coulter dissed me!
....and I'm not even a Democrat
'My pretty-girl allies stick out like a sore thumb amongst the corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie-chick pie wagons they call "women" at the Democratic National Convention.'
I'm glad USA Today fired her.

Follow the smoke to the riff-filled land
Hi all. I just got back from Wisconsin today. It was great. I did nothing all week but read, lay around in the sun, play guitar, and go fishing (yes I still fish. I won't go into my philosophy right now but if you want to know then ask me). Oh, and me, my uncle and my cousins went to Rhinelander during the day and went to the hodag museum. A hodag, by the way, is a hairy, horned monster found in Wisconsin. Hodags rule. I think I want to live in Rhinelander. If I don't move to some socialist country.
I got a new Sleep cd today. Actually, it came in the mail sometime last week but I just listened to it today. It has a 64-minute long song on it called Dopesmoker. I've already listened to it twice. I think it's about potheads making a pilgramage to Jerusalem. Or something. It's very strange and surprisingly sprititual. But I'm not quite sure what a "marijuanaut" is.
I think that's it. Oh, wait if anybody wants to hang out or anything give me a call.
I've missed everyone.

Tomorrow I'm going on vacation in Wisconsin. Land of the cheese. I'm excited. Except that I'll be stuck up there for over a week with my family. But oh well. We'll be in Wisconsin. And Wisconsin is the best place on earth. I'll be back next sunday.
So yeah. Bye.
PS Jackie if you're reading this call me if you still wanna watch my guinea pigs.

I'm posting this cuz it's funny.
You are Kelly! You are our resident hippy. You wear tie-dye shirts with sandals and jeans no matter the time of year. You prefer hugging trees than dropping bombs, but you only hug one tree in particular. When everyone gets together to play Halo, you play along too, but since you dont really play video games you are more just a target on the field than anyone to worry about. But thats ok, we love you anyway, our wonderful resident hippy. :D
What one of my friends are you (Rockford)? New! brought to you by Quizilla
The blues concert got rained out last night. What a pity. I should probably do something constructive now.
