Subject: More Radio Rants
I'm back for round 2. Or 3. Or was it 4.....I can't remember.

But anyway, on the way to church I was brutally forced to listen to the radio. GASP! And in those 10 minutes in the car, I probly heard 3-4 different songs, and all but one sounded the same. (The one that was actually unique was by Queens of the Stone Age.)

I knew the radio situation was bad, but not this bad. What happened to the variety? I wanna hear a song by Robert Johnson, and then one by Metallica, and then maybe some Crystal Method. Oh and some underground bands, like Dead Meadow and Zap Mama, and some Ballydowse for Kyle :)

And another thing. Back in the day, radio stations used to play entire albums without stopping. Now we get 3 minutes of music followed by 5+ minutes of commercials and ads from the stations talking about how much music they play.

When I was in WV, they had this oldies station there that sounded EXACTLY like the one we have here. I shit you not. In Green Bay, there is a classic rock station called the Fox. Sound familiar?

And do you know why the radio is like this? It's all about money. The corprate types have a death grip on the music industry. They saw an oppurtunity to make money, and they took it for all it was worth. The businessmen (and women) decide what records they want us to buy, and then shove it down our throats thru the radio. The radio is nothing more than their bitch.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share.

Fuck the radio.

Yeah I know what you mean. Has anyone else heard those commercials that say something like: "You are listening to our evening non-stop music block. The only block without any interruptions."
I also share your frustration with coorporate types taking things over. Anyone else notice that the number of websites requiring pay for access double every year? I have...
We're running out of uncorrupted mediums for free speech and original entertainment fast...

Yeah I've heard those commercials that claim to not have interuptions to. How hypocritical can they get? Hopefully the public will realize there getting jipped and things will change. Tom Petty wrote a song that talks about how the radio is going down the toilet called "The Last DJ". I'd post the lyrics, but I'm to lazy rite now.

That's why I don't listen to the radio. If I wanna listen to music, I listen my CDs which I burned and stole money from the people who don't need that 5 extra cents. ;p
