Subject: fascism comes to america |
|
For years America has been labeled “land of the free and home of the brave.” Is this true? How free is America? For example, if a person were to say that they believe that the American Government is making strides toward fascism they are commonly imprisoned. One need not even mention names like Mumia Abu Jamal, or Leonard Peltier. America claims to be the land of the free and why shouldn’t it be? After all, they fought so hard to free Nelson Mandela while simultaneously holding political prisoners of her own. But, where does fascism come into the American scene in the modern era? Most importantly, what is fascism? Simply put, Fascism is a political ideology with three basic tenets: 1. Extreme Nationalism and devotion to the state 2. A corporate economy 3. the raising of one group above another, creating a form of oppression The most famous fascist state would obviously be Nazi Germany. One may argue that America is nothing like Nazi Germany, they aren’t any camps, or posters, or silly uniforms. It’s true that America does not utilize any sort of camp to keep a certain mass of people in repression. Instead America utilizes its Nationalism to leave them in a state of oblivious slavery. But, before we get into that, let’s start at the beginning. It has become a common sight ever since September 11, 2001. It seems their everywhere, flying from cars, hanging from mailboxes, even adorning food court napkins. I am of course talking about the American Flag. It seems that nearly everyone has a flag hanging somewhere, or at least they have a sticker stating “United We Stand” or “God Bless America” or some other catchy slogan. To hear the President speak is to hear mindless rant about how America is the greatest nation on Earth. Although he never provides any points to support these claims it is mindlessly accepted as fact. Political Scientists refer to this extreme support to one’s state as “Super-Nationalism.” And with the lack of evidence given to support these claims is becomes mindless nationalism. Over the years the populace has been subjected to so much drivel lifting their country over all others that they no longer question or wonder why or how they got in this situation. The majority of the people living in America are in a state of total lust for the power that America supposedly holds over the world. Slogans like “America: Love It or Leave It” are beat into all dissenters so that now the very founding principle of America, progress, and evolution to the status of the world is being beaten to the ground. Anyone who questions America’s greatness is shut out, considered a traitor, and isn’t even given a chance to explain their ideas as to how to make America that much better. Now that we’ve established the presence of a strong sense of nationalism in America we are left to show the status of a “Corporate State.” In a fascist state the government is seen as a business just like any other. One example given is “you have two cows, the government takes them and sells you the milk.” This seems extreme. But, bear in mind that America is building towards Fascism and is not fully there yet. In America the government sells bonds and collects taxes. Many times these funds are funneled back into public works projects. One example would be the new Ford Field in downtown Detroit. Although it was built with a large amount of public monies in the form of bonds and tax dollars collected in the city of Detroit, if a person wishes to go to a game held in the stadium they still have to pay for their seat for the privilege to use the facility that their money paid for. For years the government has been seen as a big business, and why shouldn’t it be? Most of the seats I the senate are held by members of the wealthiest 20% of the population or by people under their influence. The actions of Lobbyists only push the government under further submission to the wealthy elite. But, who’s being oppressed? Well, with the government under the control of the wealthiest twenty percent. The same twenty percent who own 80% of the wealth in America, the same twenty percent who hold controlling interest in nearly all publicly traded corporations, the same twenty percent who hold the average working man in a form of wage slavery. To give an example as to how powerful and wealthy these people are, if there were five people in a room and they had a collective wealth of $5, you and I would each have a quarter, as would two other people while one person has $4 on them. I don’t need to explain the difference between twenty-five cents and four dollars. These people are intensely wealthy and they are in power. Obviously since they are the ones in power they are the ones whose interests are considered when making legislation. Where is the working man for all of this? The working man is taking part in the time-old tradition of “indentured servitude.” Although, the modern form is shrouded to make it look like the working man is independent he is most likely paying a mortgage, along with a car payment to some bank which is incidentally controlled by one of the wealthy. And then if the working man has children he will most likely end up paying some college’s tuition. Although many colleges are state run and funded it is the wealthy 20% who sit on their boards of directors. If the working man were to miss a payment he would be held accountable to huge penalties and phone calls from the representatives of the wealthy 20 to make payment or else! Everyday the working man goes to work, most likely for a large company working only to line the pockets of the wealthy twenty and then he will take his pay check to buy goods produced under the wealthy twenty or to make payments to one of their many institutions. But, why is the working man going to work in a large corporation? It’s simple, the wealthy twenty hold such a control on industry that small businesses just aren’t given a fair shake. We’ve all heard of small privately run stores closing up after being open for years after a Wal-Mart is opened in town. The small independent businessman cannot buy in the quantity of a Wal-Mart and thusly cannot sell at prices as low as those at a Wal-Mart. Their friends would continue to shop at the small store but since the wealthy 20 have kept them in their slavery they have to optimize their money as best they can which means that if they can save $30 on groceries at Wal-Mart that’s another $30 they can spend toward their bills to the wealthy 20. To make matters worse, “working man” is an antiquated term now. It used to be that a man would be able to support his family on his salary alone. Now his wife is sent to work, as are his children just to help out the family. It wasn’t until very recently when wealth began to polarize into the elite few that workers were so underpaid that women had to work. The only time women did factory work was either during wartime or when they were new immigrants trying to strike out a living in America. Now everyone is like the proverbial poor immigrant. Obviously the working man is held back in a form of slavery. Much like Nazi Germany where the occupants of camps were forced to build weapons and machinery for the Nazi War Machine, now Americans can live in “private” homes which are owned by banks and build goods and services that will only go to line the pockets of the wealthy rich. The only things missing are uniforms and signs which say “The Working Man Is Our Affliction.” Actually, many jobs require uniforms, from the coveralls of the auto-mechanic, to the suit of the desk jockey. I guess all we’re missing are the signs. Who would’ve known that despite the apparent movement to the Left that America is actually progressing more and more toward Fascism. Citizens are kept in a state of nationalism complete with flags and fancy slogans, the government makes money off of the money it takes from its citizens, and the average working man is kept in perpetual slavery by the wealthy elite. It smells like Fascism to me. |
