I don't know if any of you have heard about these people from Kansas protesting at the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq.

Usually, I'm all for protests. My first reaction was "yeah, war protest."

The dumbest thing is that they aren't even protesting the war in Iraq. They claim that the death of the soldiers is a direct result of God's anger at a country that supports homosexuality.

Okay. First of all, since when has the United States of America supported homosexuality? Second, isn't there a more appropriate place to state your opinion than at a funeral? Third, none of the soldiers whose funerals they protest are gay.

Sorry, Kansas kids. You might want to rethink how you're getting your message out there.

yeah here's an article.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/03/06/btsc.lavandrera.funerals/index.html

It's those "God hates fags" people. Sometimes I get tempted to hunt down those people and their families and kill them. I guess I'm a little crazy though.

ehhh what i meant is if they are into such a "God is hatred" interpretation of the Bible, then why don't we take them at their word and kill them as the heritics they are like some past generations have interpreted the Bible. Sorry, it just makes me so pissed off.

Aside from all that, I am wondering why the media is jumping all over this and not the peaceful war protests that have been happening all last week... it would do so much better. It seems all they are interested in is giving all followers of Christ a bad name.

Um wow. That is the biggest leap in logic I've seen in a long time.*

Excluding pretty much anything George W. says of course.

See, here's my problem with protesting in general. Usually there's a bunch of people who get things fucked up in their head and take things waaaay too far. It's just like Vietnam war protestors back in the 60's and 70's who referred to veterans as babykillers, or really just about any KKK protest (you would almost think that the KKK would try to vouch for all the things their against just to get people to shy away from them. I mean, really, what would you do if you saw a pro affirmative action ad sponsored by the KKK?)

I mean, personally, I don't like the war, and I can't say I really feel homosexuality is right, but these guys fucked up royally on both counts. Had I been at that funeral I would have laughed my ass off.

Oh, and on a funny note I actually know two people from Kansas, and both pretty much refer to it as "the cursed land," and neither shows any sign of returning there for any reason other than to visit their families.
