list high school as well.

include flattering experiences outside of work or school that would help you be a good candidate for the job.

list school and work experience in reverse chronological order.

i'm sure there's more i'm forgetting.

remove the thing about leaving school for family issues, and try not to say "I"

I know you don't know me, but I'm Pj's girlfriend, and I happened to stumble across this. I live for editing, so I hope you aren't offended or anything by my suggestions considering we don't know each other.

For the skills part, I would consider renaming it to "Objective," since that comes standard on most resumes, and just type up a small paragraph of what you can offer to the company that you are trying to get with. When you mention typing, throw in there what your WPM is, and even think about taking one of those quick typing tests to get an accurate number.

Depending on which company/field of work you're trying to get into, make sure that you list any PC programs that you're proficient with like anything in Microsoft office or the Adobe Suite.

I would also add "work" to where you have experience typed out, and I totally agree with whomever said to make sure your jobs are in chronological order from most recent to least. In my resume, I also have added to each job the reason for why I left, and I explained any gaps between employment. They will ask about it anyway.

For your education, I definitely agree with Pj about leaving out the family issues part, and trying not to say "I." I would just add in there that you left for personal reasons. Whomever you interview with won't and can't ask questions regarding it, and if they do ask, it's probably just so you can reiterate what has already been said. Don't feel pressured to go into details because it's not necessary. You could also think about throwing in what your intended major was and if you're planning on going back. I can see by the classes that it's probably something related to automotive, but I have no idea what exactly.

Everything else looks pretty good, and if you have MS Word, then they have a pretty awesome resume builder that I would recommend using. If you're still looking for ways to make your resume stand out and totally stellar, consider googling resume tutorials and checking some of those out. They helped me out quite a bit when I began building mine.

Once you have your resume perfected, don't forget to update it as needed if and when your work changes, and don't hesitate to add/delete things if you think of anything you want to throw in to spice things up.

Again, I hope you're not offended by any of my suggestions. I just love stuff like this, and if you're a friend of Pj's then I'd love to be able to help you out any way that I can. I know how stressful it can be looking for a job, and Pj and Kelly can both vouch for that. Good luck with everything =]

I'd maybe put grades that you recieved in those classes and you did take a couple at CC right? Even if it was only two classes I'd probably put that down because they were basic classes right?
Put year you attended UNOH.
And hungry howies doenst have a end date.

I dont know if you've ever written a cover letter before but maybe it'd be helpful. Do some research on it or something and it might help you plus it will look more professional I think personally.

Re: Re:, 06-05-08 10:09pm

..most companies that require you to e-mail a resume, have a yahoo.com e-mail address if they don't have a company e-mail address.. so i disagree that rabid-duck.net looks more professional than hotmail.com, gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc..

Also, the person who reviews your resume won't think of you as a serious candidate if you have on there that you had to leave college because of family issues.

Not sure if its the way that it was posted on woohu, or how you had it in word or whatever, but only center your name, address, number, and e-mail address.

Just trying to be constructive..

Remove the part that says "I took 3 classes at UNOH"

Instead replace it with : Classes Attended, that way it draws attention away from you bring in college for such a short time, and may appear like those 3 classes were ones of your choosing, more specifically it wont look like you took 3 classes and quit, and those happened to be the ones you took.
