Why did you say you missed me, and want to talk to me, if the door is closed and there is no turning back? Im not complaining or saying I don't want to talk, I just don't understand thats all.

Yes weary. restless.

I write everyday, but more often than not it is horribly boring.

And any day now.

Ive been here for over a month and nothing to serious has happened. I got shot at when we were flying the helicopters in, and then some guy in my platoon tried to kill everyone. So not so bad lol.

how are you

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 10-08-08 2:45am

That is terrible.

I am weary but in a different sense a suppose. In all honesty I dislike telling you about my everyday life because I feel as though I take for granted the life I lead.

I want to appreciate you and tell you everything but I don't know what I should say before I can't speak to you for months, and then I end up saying nothing at all.

It's a stupid circle but here we are, me drinking coffee at 2:42 AM and attempting to finish an art critique paper, you in Iraq. I'm not sure where to go or what to say. I'm sorry Patty.

Why do you feel like you take for granted the life you lead?

And if you don't know what to tell me, tell me what feels important to you. Anything and everything. How you are, new people in your life, what is stressing you out.

and you have nothing to feel sorry about.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 10-08-08 7:48pm

That's exactly what I mean, though. How can I feel validated telling you about the little nuances in my life when you are risking yours every day? It doesn't seem right or fair to me in any way. I can't see how you could take pleasure in me telling you about school or tests or the excessive amount of caffeine in my system at all times.

Instead tell me about yourself. What is your daily routine? What do you think about? What or who do you miss most?

My daily routine is actually very boring. I wake up, clean my weapon real quick and go to chow. Then we come back and run over drills and our roles. Currently I am a primary dismount/ security for the lieutenant, so we have meetings with him. Every once in awhile we go on patrols and just check out the areas, usually without much contact. We do alot of work with the iraqi army and its been cool getting to know them.

I miss just knowing that when the work day was over I could go back to my bed and just chill. I miss the family and I miss my friends. I miss the connections.

the connections? the whole primary dismount/security thing sounds like a huge responsibility. do you have long days? What is the iraqi army like?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:, 10-11-08 11:38am

Its not all that. We just cordon off an area for him and make sure no one comes close. We also look for snipers and all that jazz. so far so well. In one of the other units though, one of the LT's security were sucking and someone walked right up to him and shot him in the face. Nuts.

And some days are long, some days are short. The Iraqi army is pretty weird. They are super undisciplined but also very nice. To be honest its more like we are babysitting them you know?
