Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like eskimos
Everybody knows
A turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child
Is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from 1 to 92
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

To Jenn::
You will awaken at a jolt of pain all throughout your body. You realize your hands have lost all feeling, along with your legs. Frighteningly, you crack open your eyes to see a Christmas-induced Lindsay sitting on your stomach. "Its Christmas! Wake up!" She then jumps off of you with a resounding BOOM, sending your TV flying off its stand. After a few minutes of getting the feeling back in your limbs, you reach for your coat and stocking and step out of your cubicle-ized room. "Christmas cheer, everyone near!" You cry with a glass of bubbly appearing in your hand. Your mother thereon drags you to the roof to open presents. You watch with mild amusement as Lindsay makes a boulder-sized hole in the already crumpling roof, then proceed to open your presents. "Oh, my!" You exlaim as you open my present. "What a jolly Christmas this is!"
You will so love your gift <3 XD

:: Mood: busy
TONS of shit to do today. I have to go to the library to get books for the internal assessment, go to target to get clothes for the kid that I'm sponsoring or whatever in band, go to petco to get cat food, bake cookies for the band party tomorrow, write more college essays, and somewhere in there find time to study. Although, it is nice that I only have two tests that I have to study for. But it's not nice that they're on the same day. I guess it might be just as good to get them over with. Except I'm not getting them over with until wednesday. Ah, well, c'est la vie.
Went to the FAU library with amanda and amalia yesterday, only to find out that it was CLOSED. Bitches.. So we were gonna try to go to the regular library, but at that point it was 4:45 and I was told the library closes at 5. Soooo...we loitered in the parking lot for a good long while before deciding to go to the mall. I had to go home to mooch some money off of my mom, and surprisingly she gave some to me. Only because I'm mad at her and she wants to use this against me later, but I'll take what I can get. So I bought fuzzy fleece pants like amalia has and a fleece purse because it was fuzzy and 6 dollars. Then I went home and worked on college apps until 2 AM. I got all of my essays except for one for northwestern polished to a point where I'd be willing to submit them, and I was gonna do the BS stuff then too, but their stupid site was down. So instead I applied to Miami. That took all of thirty minutes. I wish I would have known it would be that easy before november 1 so I could have gotten my acceptance letter sooner. A bit cocky, maybe, but I know I'm getting in.. Then I did all the bitch work for the Penn application. Like all the brainless stuff. I still have to do a number of essays for penn, but they're not too too bad. I can tweak my big northwestern one to use it for the big penn one, once I get it more polished. Then I also have to do a one page essay on Describe the courses of study and unique characteristics of the University of Pennsylvania that most interest you. Why do these interests make you a good match for Penn? Yeah, that one's pretty easy though. Just have to actually write it. I probably won't get around to it today, but wednesday night I'm gonna try to finish atleast the first draft of these essays. Because then I'll be done with all my hard exams and will have no more internal assessment to write. Actually, I have my tok oral the next day; it'll depend on where I am with that. Pretty much these next few days are going to be shaped by when I can get books for history and when I get this paper finished. If I really try hard and have some good luck, I'm hoping to get the paper written and apply to northwestern today. That way tomorrow will be less stressful and tuesday I can just worry about studying for chem and history. Yeah, let's see how that goes. Hopefully northwestern has their friggin application site up and running, grr.. Well, I really can't waste any more time writing this, so I'm gonna go. Wish me luck!

:: Mood: depressed
Today was a terrible day. But when I look back on it, nothing really all that terrible happened. And some good things even happened. We did the essay portion of our french mocks in groups, ms zap is letting me redo my oral on the exam day (yey), and....yeah that's about all the good that happened. But nothing drastically awful happened, I'm just really depressed. I was really pissed at the end of the day because ms crocco locked the band room door like 5 seconds before I got there, and was inside and wouldnt let me in. Not only would she not let me in, but she wouldn't let katy go back through the unlocked door at the parking lot to let me in herself. I was at the fence when she came out, and she goes "Walk around." God it was just not what I needed. I was thoroughly pissed and managed to injure my foot kicking a pillar on my way around the fucking gym. I think I scared Adam a little with my tantrum-y throwing of my backpack and slamming of car doors. He tried to follow me home, but got stuck at this van that randomly decided to stop forever at a red light, rather than moving when the light was done. Eh, I'll talk to him later.
I pretty much did nothing this afternoon when I got home. My mom went to the christmas play at school, and I made some rice thing for dinner, but after I cooked it I didnt really feel like eating, so I put it in the fridge. I had a mango later. Watched a bit of school of rock and a little rudolph. Tomorrow I have to go to the FAU library. I need this weekend, but I can't even have 2 days because of the damn history paper. Argh. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. And I guess it's not the worst thing in the world. I dunno. I don't really have a lot to complain about in terms of concrete shittiness, but I'm still really depressed. A lot of people are really depressed lately, especially as this week dragged on. Next week promises to be worse, then a break. Finally. I think today was just the straw that broke the camel's back. It's just kinda getting too much to handle. Although I've heard that second semester senior year is the easiest of all 8 of them. Let's hope so. Just can't deal anymore.
Maybe tomorrow I'll go to petco to cheer myself up.

He looked on the front steps.
Today I went to Petco! It was their grand opening sale. They were taking free professional pet pictures, so I brought sasha down. We waited for TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get the pictures taken, but they turned out really good. Unfortunately, any of the really really good ones will cost me $19.99, but that's ok...I'm just sticking with my free one. Anyway, while I was there getting Sasha's pics done a petco lady came over and said that at 1:00 there was a best trick competition, and asked me if I wanted to enter. She said "Every entry gets a goodie bag, and the winning prize is really big!" So I was like sure, why not, sign me up. She asked me something interesting about sasha...I was like umm....so she asked if I adopted her and I said yes, so that was her interesting fact. After the pics were done I went over to the huge circle of people and dogs that had crowded around and waited. They called about 4 people before me, but none of them were actually there, so me and sasha ended up going first. I had her do the trick where I hide a treat in one of my hands and then stick out both fists and she puts her paw on the one with the treat in it. There were like 5 or 6 other dogs that went. One stood on its hind legs, two barked on command, one did the thing where you shoot it and it rolls over, umm...I dont remember all of them. First runner up went to Tucker, the praying border collie, who sat down and put his front paws up on a chair and looked like he was preaying. And first place went to Sasha!! XD Yay! So we won a $25 petco gift card! It was so exciting. What a great day. I spent like 4 hours in petco.
Well, that's about it. Just thought it was exciting.

I really feel bad that I haven't updated in over a month. I've just run out of words.
Today Decembear looked in the mailbox.
A bunch of us went to the play tonight for extra credit in ToK. I felt really bad for the kids since dr weigel, or "the fraoline," as will says, decided to change the play today. According to the cast there were too many sex and drug references. It was pretty good anyway. I was really impressed with Max, he's a really good actor. *shrug* Umm...what else..
Me and Amanda and some unmentioned junior guys are working setting up for the SATs. We worked for about 40 minutes today, but Mr Burow said he'd give us 3 hours total. It was funny...I wasn't sure that he recognized me, and I knew he'd forgotten my name, but then he told me to write the stuff on the boards in the room and said "You, because I know you and because I'm your favorite teacher..." Then I said "Yeah...best class I ever slept through." To which he responded "I can't tell you how little that means to me." A refreshing dose of sarcasm from Mr. Burow. He also questioned me when I said I love math. Just because I slept through the class doesn't mean I didn't like it. I got straight A's in that course and did all my homework. It was just so excruciatingly easy for me that I finished with like an hour and a half left in the class. If he wanted me to stay awake he should have given me more problems to do. Oh well. I don't really care. I just don't have anything else to write about.
We got a new car on...tuesday? wednesday? I don't remember. Some day this week. It's my favorite car ever. A Lexus RX300 (which is the small SUV for those of you who are illiterate in auto-speak). I'm mixed about it...it's a symbol of something that I'm not too enthused about, but it's a friggin sweet car. Even though my dad hardly ever lets me drive it...
Nothing else is really happening...we start mocks next week. Just english though, not that big of a deal. Then I have my ToK oral wednesday. I'm debating whether to do a modified version of what I did last year or a thing on Emmitt Till. I'm not exactly sure what her opinion is on repeat presentations. I mean, I wouldn't do exactly what I did last year, but pretty much the same thing... It's on the topic of kill vs no-kill animal shelters. It's a really good PoK and it's different, that's why I like it. But I'm afraid she'll be like you're just repeating yourself from last year.. Any opinions? I'm really on the fence about it.
What else....I dont know. I really have to start getting more CAS hours done.. I'm just so busy all the time. I think I'm gonna go tutor 8th graders at SRCS wednesdays after school for some hours. And I can work at the humane society some more. Amanda said she'd hook me up with like a heart-athon or something around march. I don't think I'm in terrible shape as far as these go. I'll just have to get a few done over christmas break.
Whatever. I'm sick of having nothing important to write about. For all the friggin time that I'm spending being busy, nothing is happening. All I'm doing now is school work. They keep telling me that it will be easier after mocks. I hope they're right.

For some odd reason, I was not really compelled to write after festival this year. I dont know why. Anywho, festival was great. It rained, just like last year. We did an AMAZING show, and earned straight superiors. It was an awesome way to cap off my career in the Atlantic High Marching War Eagle Band.
After festival, we had a group of about 15 of us go to Roadhouse (including Krystle!!! XD) It was tons of fun. A little crazy, but fun. There was a lady there making balloon animals/balloon hats, and a few of us got hats. Mine was, appropriately, green orange and white. It was just a really good time. Not too much else to say about it.
http://www.bandorders.com/view_event_photos.asp?EVENTID=5827&CAT=28795&CAT2=0
This week has been a little crazy.
Hmmm....I forget what I was going to write.
At practice thursday, senior girls got to go up in the stands and watch the show. Something I've been looking forward to for 3 years, I dunno about everyone else. I was unsure whether or not Crocco was going to let us do it, but I'm really glad she did. One thing that I really appreciate about her is that she understands how much the tradition means to a lot of us, and she finds a good balance between moving on and keeping tradition. Maybe I'm the only one who cares.
Thursday after practice, me, amalia, and amanda decided that it was up to us to get crowns for Friday. So we took off to Burger King on 441 and robbed them of all their crowns. For some reason, I thought a burger king would have more crowns than they did, but they gave us 14. Then we went to Target to try to get halloween costumes for me and amalia. There were no adult costumes there. Psh. So we decided to go to Party City to see if they had anything better. We took a small detour in the toy section. Before we went to party city, though, we went to rag shop and bought those little fuzzy pom poms for the crowns. So then we took off for party city, and I stole amanda. We got a little hung up trying to make a u-turn on 441 to get back to glades, so Amalia beat us there by a lot. When we were on glades though, she called my cell phone and said I FOUND ANOTHER BURGER KING! You guys go to BK and get more crowns, and I'll go to party city and hold the costumes. So me and amanda went to burger king and got 8 more crowns, then headed over to Party City. On the way there I tried to steal mattresses from this guy and explained to Amanda that I wanted to be a man pirate for halloween instead of a girl pirate. Mostly because I want to draw on a mustache and beard. So we got into party city and found amalia, and she was holding one costume. It was a man pirate! So I made sure she didn't want it, and then I grabbed it up before all the little kids stole it! It was missing the belt and "head sash," which were just 2 strips of red fabric. So I dont really care. We looked around for a bit, got Amalia a really sweet costume, and then went over to check out. When I was buying my costume, which was originally $12.99, (really cheap for a party city costume!) I asked the lady if it was cheaper since it was missing the belt and stuff. So she checked and it was $6.99!! Go me! So I bought it and left to take amanda home. Amalia had to go home to get her other costume since you can't return costumes, only exchange them.
I spent most of thursday night decorating my crown, rather than doing my homework, and it will probably be reflected in my grade from that ToK test. Oh well. So friday morning I went to school with 20 crowns. I left first hour with 5. We went into ToK, and everyone just started decorating either their crowns or themselves. Rae brought body paint and green and orange hair spray, and everyone was getting a little bit of school spirit. So we were all just kind of running around and getting all green and orange-y, and Ms Zap looked around and went "Ok, I guess this is what we're doing today. I'm not going to get you guys to do any work." And that's what we did all class. Ms zap took group pictures of us outside, and then we sent some people to the yearbook room to get someone to take our picture for the yearbook. It was great.
After school we had like 20 people go to McDonalds (ew), but it was fun. Afterwards, me and Kristen went to Party City to see what they had there (different party city) but they still didn't have pirate swords! Oh crap, and I forgot to look at walmart while I was there. Hmm....maybe they'll have one at CVS, they had costumes there. We'll see. Anywho, then we went back to ATL to meet the little people, I mean 8th graders, and get ready for the game. It was tons of fun, we scared all the kids. (*clap clap clap clap* Boocaaaa Boocaaaa Boocaaaa...) A lot of the kids, make that most of the kids, had serious attitude problems. I was like wtf, I wish I was going to be here next year so I could personally put you in your place. You're even lower than freshmen. But I didn't say that, because we were supposed to be nice. There was this one tamborine girl who was really annoying. She kept playing all the time, and I was like dude, don't play during cadences, but she just looked at me funny and kept playing. Anywho...when we were inside getting ready, vinh was yelling at the pit to get all the crap outside, so I was like one second vinh I'm coming! And he gave me this weird look and then said "Oh. Not you. Tonight's your senior night! You have to sit back and relax! Pit!! Half of you attend to Lauren's every need, and the other half get the stuff outside!" It was sooo funny. Then when we were outside in the inspection block and everyone was tuning, the pit kinda circled around me, and vinh told me to give everyone a pep talk. So I said "Guys, as you know, tonight is senior night. They are going to call my name. And when they do, I want to hear each and every one of you. I want you to be louder than the clarinets." And they were! Go pit! XD Senior night was so much fun. There were some, um, unfortunate moments, though. ... ;-; (parentheticals to Amanda for the face) All in all though, it was a great evening. Something we will remember forever.
After the game, a bunch of us went to Docs. It was so fun. I've really been advocating going to Doc's after senior night, just because it's a night so rich with tradition, that the only place fitting to go afterwards would be Docs. And it was. Good times.
Friday was the last game ever to be played at hilltopper stadium. The end of an era. And I'm proud to have been a part of it.
I dunno what's up...I was talking with Kristen about this on Friday, but like a lot of people are all the sudden getting all school spirit-y (myself definitely included). I was thinking back to 8th grade, where the longer you were at the school, the more you despised it. But now...it's not that I don't want to leave ATL, far from it, it's just that I want to enjoy it while I'm here. I thought a lot about it after Mr Lerner was talking about the new school. And like a lot of things are going to be different. No one will ever have the same high school experience we did. And honestly, much as I complain about the campus and about IB, as it sits, I don't think I would change a thing.
Get back to me about that at the beginning of May.
Tonight is Amalia's Birthday/Candy Robbing party! Yay! I'm going to be a man pirate! XD You gotta love trick or treating with a bunch of 18 year olds. I love regressing back to my early childhood. I said I think it was in Target, that I was regressing to when I was 6, and this lady gave me a really weird look. Amanda, you know. It was great.
Ok, really long entry. Glad I got all that written down. Over and out.
Thought for the day: Mr Logan is my hero.

Ok, yesterday was one of the worst days in my life, and I really don't want to go into it. Please do not ask.
My mom is slowly getting better. The whole surgery thing has put a big stress on me in terms of doing everything for her, but her shoulder is healing. She's regained use of her fingers on that arm. Yay.
And, on a much lighter note, I won the French club election!! XD Je suis la presidente!! I'm really excited. And I'm on the inter-club council for eagles for excellence now. So I am BUSY. All the time.
I went up for my appointment with ms kelly today, and she wasnt there. The secretary lady (I can never remember her name) apologized and said ms kelly had to go to an emergency meeting or something. "There was an incident" I dunno, whatever. The point is, my meeting was moved to monday. Whatever. Atleast now I have all my forms together. I also finally got one of my rec things out to mrs youngman. I had the other thingy ready, but mr dalsass isn't here this week...he's in vegas. And Ms Kelly told me that I can be a walkon for the october SAT II's. That makes me feel a lot better. So things are finally falling a little bit into order.
I finally planned a real college visit. I'm going to northwestern on November 4th and staying with my uncle and new-step-aunt-thing. It's his third wife, you tell me what I should call her. It'll be loads of fun. The only problem is that November 5th is scheduled to be our last football game, so everyone pray that we make the playoffs. Because I will be sad if I miss the last game ever.
So that's about all she wrote. She...being me...oh, it's just an expression, get off my back.

Pretty much just writing to distract myself.
My mom had her surgery friday, and while it was really successful in terms of fixing the problem in her shoulder, she's a real mess. I'm skipping tomorrow morning to go with her to the doctor.
We finally celebrated me and my dad's birthdays this weekend. I got two books, including Michael Moore's Dude Where's My Country?, some DVDs, Victoria's secret perfume, and a compass for my car that actually works. It was fine, but offset by the amount of pain my mom's in and the degree to which she can't do anything for herself.
Tomorrow's french club elections. I'm nervous. Damn french club.
First game was friday. It was fun. I enjoyed getting the lemonade before all the youngins. I also enjoyed not having to wear uniforms, although they would have added protection from the birds they call mosquitos up in martin county. Next week I get to call attendance on the bus. :)
I'm going to Northwestern the weekend of November 5th, which works out well, except for the fact that it's the last football game. So pretty much I'm just going to pray that we make the playoffs. Yeah.
That's about it. I'll maybe write some more later..

Ugh....eventful week.
Hurricane came and went. Not much damage, but not much electricity either. We lost power for like an hour on friday afternoon because of a down powerline near us, but it came back. We lost it again at 9 o'clock saturday morning and it didn't come back until 8 o'clock wednesday night. I had to go to kristen's house (What day was that? Tuesday?) to charge some stuff, and shelly and her brother were there enjoying the electricity too. We watched the Perfect Score and hung out a bit, watched some game shows, went out to dinner, then I had to head home before the stupid curfew was in place. I made a video of the whole storm, which I still have yet to watch, but it should be interesting. Will left Tuesday afternoon, and officially postponed my dad's and my birthdays until next weekend. My friends did not get that memo. o.~ Went over to Amalia's house for a party with her, Amanda, Kristen, and a bunch of 14 year olds. ("Can you drive?") We watched the end of the Neverending Story, which I still don't get, and then I once again had to beat the curfew home. This time I was mucho late, but no cop is going to send me to jail for being out past 10 on my 18th birthday. Thanks guys for the party-ish. I will have a real one soon, I promise. I'm leaning towards the 25th, but it depends on my mom since she's having surgery on friday. So things are pretty much up in the air on that one.
Yesterday my parents and I went furniture shopping (not as boring as it sounds, I like furniture shopping) and bought a new dinette set. The table and chairs we currently have were purchased before Will was born. So that's getting here like next tuesday or whatever.
I've been pretty anti-social lately and I'm not sure why. We haven't had school for over a week, and I've seen my friends like twice in that time. *shrug* Maybe we'll do something later. Anywho...I think we're going back to school Tuesday? I haven't heard anything conclusive on that one. I really don't miss it. I have some work to do, mostly on college apps, and I have to ask ms Kelly about national merit stuff. Someone remind me again to make an appointment with ms kelly. I need to do that sooner rather than later. I guess that's all that's been happening. Oh, I did go out and buy some lottery tickets, and I have yet to win, but I'll keep my hopes up. I feel so weird being 18. Like 18 is the age that when you're little you always say "I'll never be 18" and "I'm moving out on my 18th birthday." Yeah, neither of those turned out to be true. But what can I say...I was young and stupid. 18 comes with a lot of stuff though. It's not useless like 17. I can drive at all hours now. And I can buy porn and cigarettes and lottery tickets. And I can vote. And I no longer have to make empty threats of leaving to my parents. Oh wait, yes I do...I don't have any money. But I can still sign myself out of school. I feel important. Go me.
2 wave goodbye. |
