i like how at some point it transitions in conceptualization from a very late night, to a very early morning. and yet, the task of nabbing down precisely where that transition occurs is nigh-on impossible.
my guess is that it's right around the time when the birds start chirping.
...
yep, i hear 'em.

wow. it's gonna be a long stretch to exams.
and an early morning tomorrow. i'll be ready to crash once i get done at the scientists meeting tomorrow night. but that'll be fun, at least. the events leading up to it, not so much.
although, filming went reasonably well today. and i got some free food out of the deal. and i met a guy who wants to record me on drums. and i got to play drums at that party last night, which also had some free food and was a lot of fun. and i got to play drums and hear dad's new band on friday, and have some free food after that as well. so, the themes for this weekend were : party, free food, and drums.
not too bad. except that i got nothing accomplished and slept way too late this morning. but it all worked out, i guess.

Last week's John Adams recap
I am a week behind in John Adams episodes so tonight I'll talk about last week's episode. I was going to talk about this week's episode too but Nick doesn't want to watch another one and I should take a shower anyway. (this is long so I cut it to be nice to you guys)
On the episode from two weeks ago, poor John went to France and screwed everything up because he didn't know how to deal with the French. Franklin was a playa and John sent J Quince off with some creepy guy to Russia. The episode ended with John being in the giant Rembrandt painting that was The Netherlands of the 18th century and being very ill. On the homefront, Abby infected everyone with smallpox (some might say...inoculated against smallpox) so they wouldn't die. Everyone got really sick. Will Abigail be pissed when John returns without a son? Will John ever go home? Why is Benny Franks so popular with the French? Was that creepy guy a child molester? We find out on last week's episode of JOHN ADAMS.

Wow..
So uh, I just got tear gassed. There was a huuuuge block party(though technically it's about 3-4 blocks) in an apartment complex near MSU called Cedar village, which happens to be across the river from my dorm. So naturally I went to go check it out, though I wasn't able to get out there until roughly 2am. Of course, I see a lot of people running around. I hear screams, shouts, hoots and hollers with the odd explosion here and there. Then when I get closer I start seeing cop cars, cops in full riot gear wearing gas masks, and then I see a guy laying in the street being pulled away, and a massive cloud of smoke comes billowing out of Cedar Village. In essence, it was insane.
I guess I came pretty much right in time for the riot squad and the gassing, yay for me I suppose O_o. I also got hit with it while I was trying to get a look at what was going on. It uh, not so surprisingly, burns. It's kind of like you had spicy food shoved in every orifice, and then got punched in the stomach. So yeah, after that I wandered around a bit more examining the carnage and whatnot. Some highlights:
-After all the riot cops cleared out the area, a bunch of the partiers actually started sneaking back in, and music and fireworks started up along with some chants. This was followed by several much bigger explosions and a second wave of riot police coming through. It was actually quite cinematic. You heard a bunch of blasts, then a wall of smoke billowed up through the area, and wall of men and women in riot gear hurling tear-gas grenades emerged from the haze and partiers ran away screaming.
-a guy actually smashed a bottle on the back of a cop car and got away with it.
-a guy on a bike followed the cops yelling "FREEEEDOM! WE'RE ALL FREE! THESE PEOPLE HERE ARE PAID TO ENFORCE YOUR FREEEEDOM!" He was wearing cowboy boots. A guy standing near me told him to fuck off, and he walked up to him looking like he was going to start a fight or something and said "YOU CAN TELL ME TO FUCK OFF. BECAUSE YOU'RE FREE! ISN'T THAT AMAZING?! WE'RE ALL FREEEEEEEE."
-A guy who looked like a Vin Diesel reject started screaming at some random guy on the street, and it looked like a fight was going to break out. In about 2 seconds a crowd formed around them and started yelling "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" and similar such things. Right before the fourth wave of cops arrived (the fourth wave, incidentally, didn't have any tear gas, so I assume they ran out..), aaaand then he ran like a little girl.
-Homeless people had a friggin' can harvest (cans were everywhere, and broken glass lined the streets in the apartment complex). I saw some of them lugging around 2-3 full sized garbage bags worth of cans.
-random guys were actually picking up the exploded flashbangs/smoke grenades/tear gas grenades, and walking off with them in their pockets, showing them off to any passers by.
-At one point the school chant ("GO WHITE" "GO GREEN") started up. Then one guy yelled as loud as he could " SPARTANS, WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!" At which point a particularly loud explosion went off a block over. Then everyone in the area laughed and the guy yelled "THANK YOU!"
Um, but yeah, that's mooooost of what happened. Sadly I didn't have a camera so I wasn't able to get any pics of the event, but I'm sure you'll find pics plastered all over the web and in the news by the time you read this.
Oh, I also heard a couch was indeed set on fire in the street, but I didn't want to venture in far enough to see it.
Anyhow, take care everyone.

The Rock Band tournament last night was so much fun. Our band was Ovaryactive. At first, it was just me and Bekka but then Brad (a kid from our EU class) got his sister and her friend to join us. It was very, very awesome. I did not win most awesome contest but I was still awesome.
Afterward, we went to the bar and I felt like a college student.
The end.
I love you all.

Good news on the homefront
So one of my French papers, the longer one, received good news today:
1. The decision was made to have all students enrolled in the course turn in their final term papers in English (and not in the target language French, German or Spanish as originally stated).
2. FH, GN and SH students are still expected to conduct research that includes scholarly readings in their respective target language. These sources should also be cited in the bibliography (MLA style) of the paper.
Weight lifted, captain.
I still have not found an outfit for Friday. We had band practice yesterday and I thought that all our mediocre skills would somehow combine to form awesomeosity. This did not turn out to be the case. We will definitely not win on skills. I shall need the costume of all costumes or we will need stage presence beyond all stage presence.
The kitty is beyond very cute right now.
I love you all.

you know. sometimes i just don't understand.
most times, in fact.
i just wonder where the fuck i went so wrong. when it all looked so promising. and then there are those other times when i wonder how in the hell it worked out so perfectly, when i thought it would be shit. and either way, i was fucking wrong, and didn't get a chance to appreciate it, because i was so busy being wrong.
and then i failed college. or at least pissed a bunch of people off for being stupid. and pissed myself off even more.
i've been ridiculously angry all day today, and i don't understand it. i really need to blow off some steam.

I gave my speech for my EU class today. It was terrible. I blacked out, I seriously don't remember much of it but I'm not concerned.
I am entering a Rock Band competition with Bekka and maybe Laura on Friday. It will be fantastic! I am thinking of getting a really awesome outfit and just rawking. That way, we at least have a chance of winning. What I will wear? I do not know.
I am sorry I have not called you back yet Jessa. I have had no time. I'll try to call you later this week but it might not be until after the weekend.
I love you all.

blast from the past!
The ballet was awesome. I almost want to go back to ballet. If only I was coordinated or flexible...
Hannah is awesome too. I wish I could hang with her more often.
Announcement: we can no longer be friends if you cannot smile witchyer eyes. There will be a test at the end of the week to weed out you non-smilers.
I have a speech on Tuesday that I haven't even started. Oh and I have to watch a movie and write a paper on it for French class on Friday. And really I am not stressed about it at all.
I have not yet watched this week's episode of John Adams but I believe I shall blog about it when I do.
It is going to be warm and awesome this week with rain and awesomeness. I plan on wearing dresses.
I love you all.

I got a facial today. Not that kind. The other one. It included a foot massage (or feet massage since I have two foots), hand massage and back massage. I am so incredibly chill still from it and it got done at 7. It was two hours long and now my stress is nonexistent. I highly recommend it.
I saw Run Fatboy Run with Katti, Oliver and Nick today. It was good. It was slow to start but it got fantastic once it picked up.
Also, why I love these people: "Fuck Princess Peach. It's motherfucking Princess Toadstool, you assholes." said Katti. "Is there a reason why they changed it?" asked Nick. "It wasn't girly enough. You know what I think of that? I think I want to shit on them. I am not normally into shitting on people but that deserves a nasty taco Cleveland steamer."
I have papers and taxes and scholarships due and I am not stressed about them at all. Lallalalala.
Oh! Do you want to see one of my host brothers in a stupid youtube video he made? WELL TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY!
I swear I had something to say but I don't remember. OH! I did not wear a bra today and it felt wonderful.
Also, I am obsessed with Twitter because I can update from my phone. So, that's a good place to catch me dropping it like it's hot. Or whatever. Word to your mother.
I love you all.

i had a dream last night that i played hockey with the red wings. i was really bad. but they still liked having me on the team, for whatever reason. it was one of those dreams where it's really frustrating, because you can't move as fast as you know that you can. and you keep trying to will your body to do stuff, but it won't. before that i was driving in a car with my sister. which i think was a continuation of a previous dream i'd had.
did the in-class shoot today. it kinda sucked balls, but whatever.
robby had to cancel today. which i guess is okay. i just wish he would have told me ahead of time so i wouldn't have had to go and reserve the recorder and have dad bring the mics out and all of that happy horseshit. but i suppose it was for the best. it gave me time to get more accustomed to the machine and think through exactly how i want to set it up when he actually can record.
also, i couldn't talk to the financial aid people today. but i made an appointment for next wednesday. and i might be able to do walk-ins before the appointment. i'm debating on how urgent my need is. well, i need $2000 by april 25, if at all possible. so pretty urgent, i suppose.
then again, i won't be able to give them anything if i can't register for the class, which i also have to wait on. i talked to the lady in the school of com office today, and she said that the names hadn't been cleared yet, and to try again next monday. and if they're not up by next monday, i'll just have to wait longer.
and the honors college still hasn't cleared me for WRT 305 yet, either.
so all around, a whole bunch of waiting for people to get their shit together. which is frustrating. but there's nothing i can do about it, other than wait, so i might as well just relax and enjoy.
there's a free trade concert tonight that i'm helping out at. the scientists are running the pa and recorder for the show. should be fun. i enjoy doing that stuff, and they're good people. always a good time.

dear god,
if i go deaf because i'm the first person to ever be diagnosed with a "skull infection" i am going to be pissed at you until further notice.
sincerely,
Chris
actually, my nose is getting a lot better. but now my left ear is all messed up. it's happened two or three times now where i go to blow my nose, and then i blow too hard or something, and my ear pops, and then it rings and feels all funky, occasionally making more popping/swelling sounds, until eventually it goes away. but the entire time it's like that, i can't hear shit. i know it's something to do with my eardrum. but that doesn't make me feel any better. i kind of need my eardrum if i want to work in a recording studio. motherfucker.
i feel good though. i got a lot of shit done today. and i have lots more to do tomorrow. should be cool though. i'm definitely getting somewhere with stuff and things. always gratifying.
