[edit 11:04] I almost forgot, my mom got my senior pictures today so I'll probably scan them in early tomorrow. You can choose if you want one or something. I don't know what I mean. I'm too tired to think.

I like being social. And going places and seeing people.

I've always said I like being alone but I guess being with other people isn't that bad either. In fact, it's pretty fun.

Today, I hung out with Ben, Nick and Tom. Nick apparently invited me over to Ben's without telling Ben. That's all cool except for the fact that I don't want Ben to be mad at me. But meh. Take what you get.

We played Halo blah blah.

I danced in the rain. It was beautiful. I just stood there for a bit and spun around a few times. I love rain.

Like always, my clothes were all wet and I got slightly reprimanded. It's not going to stop me from doing it again.

At 5:30 I babysat the sweet kids next door. It was easy peasy as always and I got $20 out of it. Came home at 9ish.

Bootlegs
I almost forgot about the bootlegs. As last year, my father brought home a few bootlegs.

Not as many as last time but anyway. He got Shrek 2, Harry Potter, the animated Van Helsing (I think) and Troy.

Shrek 2 is actually pretty good looking. Hannah and Buddy watched it.

Harry Potter is off-center a bit but it's still pretty okay.

I didn't watch any of the other ones but yeah. If anyone wants me to bring em anytime, that's what I've got.

P.S. The Ghibli DVD isn't Region 1 but I cheated my computer and changed one of our DVD players to Region 3 because 3y3 4|\/| |_337 |-|4x0|2z!!one!11!

Yay! Oriental goodies!
My dad came home from Taiwan, as always, with a truckload of goodies for us all.

I'll start with the music.

- Omohide PoroPoro Soundtrack I've never heard of the anime but it's got a nice "music to listen to while riding in the car" feel to it. The first two tracks sound smooth and classical. The third sounds like a Jewish wedding song and the fourth sounds like a mariachi song. So the anime has to be very interesting.

- Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) Soundtrack GLEE!

- Hoshi no Koe (Voices of a Distant Star) Soundtrack My favorite anime. It's one episode, 28 minutes long and I cry every time I watch it. The music is just beautiful

- Animage Singles Soundtrack This has songs from Nausicaa, Laputa, Totoro and Kiki on it. I haven't listened to it yet.

- lemonjelly.ky (Compilation Thing of Lemon Jelly) I don't know. My dad says they're pretty awesome and I have the same eclectic taste of music he has so I guess I'll check it out really fast. The first things I notice upon opening the CD case are the psychedelic swirls on the CD and some guy in a luchador (am I spelling that right?) mask on the booklet. Hm. Wow. The first songs starts out and I'm amazed. It's like The Flaming Lips but softer and a little more classical. Great bass going down. I think the floor's vibrating. I'm sure you'll hear me rant and rave about these guys pretty quick. New obsession. It's like techno I don't know. Their songs range from about 7 to nine minutes long. Great background party music.

I got this Ghibli DVD, the title of which is in very complicated kanji. There's an exclamation point in the description along with the number 17. I'll scan it in later to see if anyone recognizes it. I hope it's region 1. *crossing fingers* It was made back in 1993 by Saeko Himuro if that sounds familiar at all. I'm digging deep here.

I put Harry Potter in French on my Christmas list and my father returned with Harry Potter � l��cole des sorceiers (Harry Potter at the school of sorcerers). It says it's a "folio junior" so I don't know if it's the entire first book but since I can understand most of it so I'll keep you updated.

I got these cute little "book make" bookmarks ("Your truthful page maker") with the phrase "live" on one and "life" / "look forward to an interestin anecdote". They're cute but I'm not sure if hillbillies made them or someone just typo-ed.

I have this "OPEN The... Doing your own thing." blue spiral notebook thingy. It's cute and small. Perfect for me pocketses.

Now to the assorted things.

I have, on my lap, a cat shaped pillow thing that my father says is good luck during the dragon festival or something. All I know is that it's cute, soft and smells like the orient.

In my bag of goodies, (it has multiple pandas on it playing various sports with the phrase "lucky to you" placed sporadically on it) I have....

- A very Open Mind-ish purse thing with a lotus and some words that look like Sanskrit in a circle around some Hindu symbol thing. It's pretty.

- A very big but very cute greenish shirt with the typical oriental clasp things on it. They go down to the left (my left, if I'm wearing it) which, I do believe, is only worn that way when someone's dead or something. Jackie, can you confirm, expand or disprove that?

- A Fung Shui compass thing. I don't know how it works or what's up with it but it has a compass and two levels on the side. It reminds me of an alethiometer and I do believe I'll call it that from now on.

- Three Hindu stickers of random gods that I think will grace my naked CD player with their presence.

- A cute orange change purse-y thing. It's cute. I heart it. I have about 40 of these or purses in this style.

- One shirt, black, has monkeys on it with "o (some kanji) ra (I think)" above the monkeys and "omamori na saru" which means something about monkey. Any ideas, Jackie? I think the "omamori" is an adjective. Mamori means something about protection or a talisman so now I'm lost.

- My other shirt, also black, has monkeys and some comb-type design on it. Under the symbol (be prepared for massive Engrish and I'm not making this up) are the words: "with POWER'S ROCK". Under those seemingly random words are seemingly random letters: "let7sldpnvdxcizjkeifkdsk". And that's just the first row. I've heard people say that the Japanese wear shirts with random English words on them and I think this shirt is a fine example.

There's this random book called Marionette�s on Taiwan in Majesty. It's in French and Chinese. It has pictures (Glee!) and a map of the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris on the back.

Crazy.

Hannah and I received some dangly bracelets like always. I let her take four since I'm nice and I felt sorry for her having to be tortured by some new dental appliance today. I have three earth toned ones and they make a pretty noise when they all cling together.

So yeah. That's it really.

Oh, we did get a spiral incense burner. One of those ones that you see at temples and shrines. The incense burns for 24 hours and smells like the incense at church.

I'm going to see if that Ghibli DVD works.

My dad comes home from China/Taiwan today. He went early this year. I think he'll actually be here for the start of school. Maybe.

Katie and Tracey leave in two hours. Okay, it's less than two now because this entry took longer than I thought it would.

Today, I went over to spend the day with Katie. I woke up at 10 to 1 though so I guess it wasn't really the entire day. We hung out for a while at her house and helped her finish packing. She lent me her Pikachu for company on the plane since I'm afraid of flying and her little brother gave me chocolate.

We were heading downtown with Tom when I asked her if she minded if we took a detour to Ben's to see him and Nick for a bit.

We hung around there forever. Kyle showed up sometime. Katie had to go home at (5? 6?) I don't remember. I walked her home and tried not to cry. I succeeded.

I then hung around watching Kyle and Ben playing Halo and Nick play Halo on the computer. We're such geeks.

Kyle eventually went home and I was just hanging out with Ben and Nick. It was fun. At some point, they decided they wanted to see a movie and roped tons of people into it before convincing me to call my mom and beg for money.

We (Ben, Nick, Brigitte, Brett, Jackie, Nick's sister, Nick's sister's guy and I) saw Stepford Wives at 10:summat. An odd movie, it was. I'm not quite sure what I think about it yet, I did like it though. Quite the dumb ending. People need to learn to stop while they're ahead.

We all stood around talking for a while before heading off our separate ways.

Brigitte gave me one of those paper lamp things that I've wanted forever. I love her to death and now I love her more. If that's possible.

I broke a promise of mine today and have been slowly breaking it over the past few forevers. I promised myself that I would never date the same guy twice. Seeing Ben and Jackie, Lil Ben and Kristy and Katie and Tom all get together (not all of them as a whole but as their own individual couples) after/during trying once (or more than once) at a relationship, sort of crushed my thoughts/hopes and dreams of ever trying a relationship more than once. Ever the optimist, (and one who never really stopped liking one of her ex-boyfriends) I decided I wouldn't let other people's experiences build a frame for the world I live in.

In short, Nick and I are together again.

So the yelling about how I didn't blah de blah and how I'm a such and such, just like last time, can begin now.

I've been in a Morrissey/The Smiths mood lately and I don't know why.

I was reading this interview with Morrissey in an Entertainment Weekly issue that I never got around to reading and he said a few things that made me nod in agreement and some more that made me laugh.

"But I certainly think B. Spears is...the devil. The way she projects herself and the fact that she is so obviously vacuous. I think it's such a shame that she became so influential to very small children. Most of the faces I see on the cover of American music magazines are just dreadful--people with nothing to offer the world at all."

I did nothing really. I slept in til 2 and went to Katie's bye bye party at almost 6.

We partied, we had fun, I smell like campfire.

I'm going to miss Katie a lot. A lot.

A rant on Moz, society and tolerance
You have to love anti-American songs.

You should read all the stupid people being all upset over Morrissey and one of his latest songs. They're all "I loved Moz while he was bashing everyone else but once he bashes me, I'm appalled."

People need to chill and stop taking things so seriously. It's a song for goodness sake. If you don't like it, don't buy it or skip the track and shut up. Geez!

And everyone's mad because he said he'd rather Bush died than Reagan. They say he should apologize, yadda yadda. My thing is, it's his opinion. Last thing I heard, we were allowed to voice our opinions. The only people who are mad at him are stupid Americans. Those Brits don't really care. Plus, I believe he is either half-kidding or doing that mocking of himself that he tends to do when people say he�s depressed and controversial.

Morrissey is controversial. He always has been. He wrote songs with racial connotations, one of his songs was entitled Suedehead and many of his songs have homosexual connotations. If you buy one of his CDs expecting it to be nursery rhymes you can sing to your children or filled with songs that won't offend you, you don't know Moz and shouldn't be buying one of his CDs.

People take things to heart a lot more than they should. If you don't like it, change the channel, turn it off, don't listen, look away, don't buy it, shut up. Complaining about it gets you nowhere. "Oh I hate this CD because the first song is bashing America and our American way of life. And me!" Skip the track then! Why'd you buy it? Can't you see the list of songs on the back of the CD? How hard is it to change instead of complain?

You know what? Here are the lyrics to the "anti-American" song on his latest CD. I don't think he's bashing America so much as telling us to open our eyes to see how full of ourselves we are.

Anyway, it's called America is Not the World and Morrissey is absolutely correct. America's not the world. So if you don't like something, take care of it on your own. Don't act like since you don't like it, it's evil and wrong.

I'm going to suck at the ACT because I haven't had math in a year and really suck at algebra. I took it before in 7th grade and did okay even without the math so I'm hoping I didn't get any dumber/less smart.

The math is all I'm worried about.

Either way, it's not the end of the world. I can always re-take it.

tuesday: Guard practice, and my sisters friends were over and we hung out in the pool and stuffage...it was great, than after practice i came home and ate than slept *nodnod* pretty good day..

Wednesday!: okie, yesterday i stupidly broke the globe on my fans light and glass when flying everyone....NEVER SPIN INSIDE THE HOUSE!!! lol....i need to learn to follow my own advice...anyways, my sisters friends were still over and we pretty much did the same thing...but yeah..it was rather boring....anyways on to today! ^_^

My angel
Back story comes first.

This kid who sat in front of me in my Japanese class is an awesome artist. Phenomenal, really.

One day he came to class with a picture he drew of Terry Bradshaw. It looked so like him that it was sort of creepy. All throughout the hour he kept lifting up the picture and saying, "What would Terry Bradshaw think about that?" or "What would Terry Bradshaw do?� It was quite an entertaining day.

So, of course, everyone is fawning over Terry Bradshaw and they start bidding for him. "I'll pay two bucks for it" "I'll pay five� And you can't tell if they're kidding or being almost serious.

So, of course, I add in, half-joking, "I'll pay twenty."

The kid turns around, looks at me like I'm crazy (which I am when it comes to money, I generally give it away to anyone) and asks if I'm serious. I shrug and say I'll bring the money the next day. He hands me the picture and I hand it to a kid who wanted it more.

He thought I was crazy and refused to take the money without drawing me something. I gave him the money the next day and wouldn't tell him what I wanted. I didn't want anything. I just wanted to be weird/nice.

So all week I'm thinking about it and I finally tell him that if he feels he has to draw me something, it'd be cool to have wings or an angel.

Periodically, he and I walked down to the art room so he could show me my angel. He was working on it as his final project.

The last day of school he gives me the angel. He states that he got an A on it.

And wow. I wish I'd given him more than 20 bucks.

There was one word at the bottom: Peace. My scanner isn't that large though so I couldn't fit it in the picture. But that's what that "p" is the beginning of. Peace.
